Kev is going

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Arguably been one of our greatest ever players and definitely our best since his arrival a decade ago. And our success over that time has largely been down to his ability and influence and that will never be forgotten.

But it is the right decision and it could have happened last season in all honesty. His influence has been diminishing and injuries increasing.

So farewell KDB and thank you for all you have done for on the field and off the field by raising our standards and profile

Just a reminder of the thoughts of Sky pundits on his signing

The best I've seen in my 60 years of support. Genuinely saddened that his time with us has come to the end. Some great memories however, thanks Kevin.

Admire him more for the fact he's walking away at end of season rather than staying longer than needs be and us be frustrated.

True legend and one of the best we've ever had.

That moment on the Dvd of the treble at the end of the Champions League final with im and Pep saying 'we did it' had me in tears!.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

It was Pep’s choice mate -

And Guardiola said: "It was not easy for me to tell him it [his City career] won't continue."

Skimming through Bluemoon came across this post made me laugh

A true gentleman aswell.
A little story of old. My youngest met KDB, Foden and Walker at his football christmas do about 5 years ago. A real gent. He sat down with my youngest, asked him about his football, family etc but the best thing he did was take him to the ice cream stall on his own and treated him to the biggest ice cream I have ever seen. Top man he was. My lad never forgets that.
Walker tried to finger blast my Mrs when I wasn't looking....dirty twat.

He seems gutted he is going, but not just that, I think in the weekend he had his best game for us this season, after he announced his departure.
Odd.

Surely the best scenario is that he goes to New York City and comes back to us on loan next February for a few months. Like Lampard a few years previously

I genuinely think Kev thought he was bang on for a renewal but he’s left it too late.

I believe this is now where the club have taken a different attitude and they know they need to change the “it’s up to the players” approach - Walker gone, Kev going, Stones should be shitting himself.

Is it just me or he seems to moan too much in the media we didn’t extend?

Incredible all the grovelling to Walker and Kevin doesnt even get the offer of an extra year on reduced wages.

I think Pep has learned from the mistake with Walker. We can’t have any time for sentiment

I get we're a business but I would have made Kev the exception for what he's done for us.
Our best player of my lifetime and some would say best ever.
Absolute genius and hasn't give us any problems off the pitch either.
Surely let him leave on his terms is the least we could do for him.

1% of me hopes they'll be a u-turn but knowing what a corporate machine we are, i know it's not gonna happen really.

If for the sake of argument we’d offered his current wage for a year recognising he would not be a central player any more I’d feel a lot more comfortable. To offer nothing in a short but far from sweet meeting sticks in my craw.

Yeah our PR machine is second to none so I'm sure he's signed something so he's not allowed to come out an slag us off massively but you can see in his interviews that he is not happy with it and rightly so.

one good game v palace straight after the announcement doesn't hide the fact that he's not been the player he once was for over a year now. he's 34 in june and, even when he was younger, had a history of injuries. i'd rather not watch him struggle and i think the £400k/wk he frees up on the wage bill can be used to bring in younger, fitter reinforcements. of course i'll be sad to see him go but elite level sport is no place for passengers as we have found out this season.
