How can the ref be told to go to the monitor to check whether it should be upgraded to a red( when they're instructed to check it's practically a formality they'll change their mind) and then it be rescinded on appeal when presumably they've looked at the exact same footage.
Absolute disgrace.
Ref should have a few weeks off unpaid. However the worst that will happen is he refs a Championship game on full pay. Disgraceful
The ref should have had the bollocks to stick to his original decision after going to the monitor but it's those controlling VAR who should be fined. They had the benefit of seeing it again from all the angles and still called him over

Sacked is the only acceptable outcome here. It’s not human error, it’s corruption, simple as that
And that has absolutely no place in sport of any kind. Or indeed most business in the wider world

Referees can absolutely stick to their guns but don’t.

This is fucking madness. You cannot have VAR overruling a ref to upgrade a yellow to a red then have it turned over on appeal when it's all based on the same footage. Just plain corruption on the part of VAR and its controllers

Leave the ref and VAR alone, they were acting on orders. It only makes any sense when you realise who they were playing......and the fact that who they were playing were losing and needed a helping hand.

And this will be simply brushed aside as if it never happened
Like when Mark Halsey(?) said referees were not impartial or words to the effect and initially Neville was horrified but it quickly went away and was never spoke of again

Yep, he said that they were told to give x amount of corners etc throughout a game. Funny he’s had to move abroad now…
Met Halsey on my lunch about 15 years ago. Thanked him for adding that time on and we joked about it. He was supporting City against Madrid a few seasons back at the Bernabeu and posted it on Twitter

Funny as fuck if Spuds break their trophy aversion against them in the final, though...

Forest’s season falling away. It would really be nice if the match against Fulham ended up being irrelevant. Love to clinch CL qualification at home to Bournemouth. Wolves tomorrow will be no cinch though.

I hope the Arse fall away as well. It would be great if we could overtake them
