I've not seen him get skinned like Nico O did against Chelsea for the equaliser.
When it was 0-0 against Dippers, great cross from Nunes and 1-0.
When it was 0-0 against Palace, great cross from Nunes and 1-0.
We missed him big style the last couple of games.

He was bailed out multiple times by Dias/Josko. His handball versus Brighton, multiple times with his hands across the box.
But he is played out of position and he ended up here only because Paqueta is a gambler.

Everyone keeps mentioning the handball against Brighton because there's nothing else to go on with him.
The handball was from the crazy free kick Khus gave away.
How far back do we go, if it's last season he got us CL football with the last second winner against Villa

He's not the answer though, is he?
I think there's zero justification for Pep not signing specialist defenders...zero justification. Defense is one area where you need a settled back four ( How many times have we been saying this over the years ?), and all four need to be proper specialists in my opinion.
Pep can fuck around as much as he likes elsewhere on the pitch, but not at the back —it's costing us big time right now and he seems to be out of ideas how to make it work.

He was part of the settled back 4 winning every week.

Not winning silverware though. Im pretty sure we havent won fukall silverware since he became a starter. He's certainly no game changer like a prime Walker.

Course he was.
If you look at the seasons ratings so far he's ahead of all defenders bar O Reilly.
Looks like he's been doing the bailing out.

Yes, Pep turned him into prime Lahm. Saw there is a huge interest in him in the market.

If interest in the market is your yardstick you must really rate Savinho.

Isn’t this the main problem turning players into something they are not instead of buying the best players in those positions in the 1st place , or buying good players in their positions and turning them into brilliant players .

I agree with this and he’s quick and skilful, just prone to the odd brain fart but they are becoming fewer as he progresses

When was the last time our team were really at it against top opposition for 90 mins ? playing with pace and skill, putting our opponents to the sword, winning comfortably. It was the treble season, there has been nothing like it since, just a handful of good games. It’s pitiful actually with what we have at our disposal. Prime Kev, Rodri, Foden, Bernie, Stones and the rest. All those players are either gone or seemingly spent. We are in decline for several reasons, but the most notable reason is that a team in their first CL campaign and haven’t won a game ever in the competition have worked out how to play us and that is down to the manager to find a way and it’s patently obvious that he’s out of ideas.

Unless something extraordinary happens over the next couple of months, and it seems pretty obvious that its not going to happen then he has to go at the end of the season. He’s tainting his reputation and the club’s status. I actually think he’s lost the dressing room and that’s down to him and his arrogance. I’m done with him, and have been for over a year. He’s been a great manager for us and we could not have imagined the success he’d bring but it’s over. I still have hope, I’m a city fan after all and will support us whatever happens but it’s time for a new and fresh approach whatever that may bring. Taxi for Pep !!!!!

I think some have very rose tinted memories of the treble season - it was wank football for a lot of it barring the Real Madrid takedowns, and the outcome was actually more characterised by it being the one occasion in the run in of a season where Guardiola didn't do something fucking stupid or arrogant.

The decline started imperceptably when we started to lose players like Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Fernandinho and never really replaced them properly or in a timely manner. We've hit gold with Rodri and Haaland, but beyond that it's all very 'Meh', and it just gathered pace the last 2 years when you lose players like KDB, but also when you lose the non-cental players like Mahrez, Walker, you start to realise just how special that group of players were together.

I'm far from a happy clapper, I barely watch City any more because I can't stomach watching the insipid way we tend to play for the most part or the stupid shit Guardiola does - I'd love to get that feeling back again of being excited, But getting a manager who's gonna throw caution to the wind with a squad that will likely never match the centurions, is also going to mean we lose quite often, and there's a feeling I see here that nothing will ever be good enough again.

My question to everyone, guardiola aside - will we ever be satisfied again after what we've seen, or are we destined to be a Real Madrid baying for the managers' blood every year because he's not won the fuckin lot.

So where DO we go from here?

It's very unusual to have a manager in place for 9 years. I think Pep is incredibly intense and some players can't handle that. The club has seen success from it, sustained success, but last season I just felt I, as a fan, was running on empty and maybe that the players, a few, were too.

Its not all Pep, its football, its become saturated. There is too much of it. We have a world cup this year. Someone noticed that Haaland might play 69 games this season BEFORE the world cup, where we'll want to be busting a gut, who knows if he'll play in another one?

I've softened a little bit. I think we can't underestimate the impact of Gvardial and Dias being injured at the same time, as well as Rodri being forced into a more rapid return. Nico G is missed, Nunes is missed. The options arent really there. Foden has revert to last season, unsure why. Cherki is toiling, I love the flicks and the attempts but they need to start coming off otherwise his judgement is going to start to be questioned.

Where is Doku? Played brilliantly for 10-12 games, very effected away vs Madrid, hailed for those runs to the line but nothing since.

The nostalgic part of me enjoying Semenyo coming in like a breathe of fresh air for 3 games, until the mood captivated him too.

We'll be ok, we'll be top 4, flap out at the quarters in the champions league, lose the league cup final and probably not make it to the FA Cup final.

Then it'll be semi final agony for England in the world cup, maybe a new manager and we go again!

Pep is full throttle. The club is built on a decade of success. I’m not posting to slag anyone, but if you can’t hit the standard required then questions need to be asked of everyone. Pep may be too much for some. Maybe. However the players should not be dropping below the standards set by those before them. It’s City do your jobs.

Arsenal 4-1, Liverpool 4-1, Utd 6-3, Spuds 4-2 (from 2-0 down), Palace 4-2 (from 2-0 down), Bayern 3-0, Real 4-0 and so on........we were playing fantastic football that season, the best we've ever played and arguably (no argument in my mind though) the best football the PL has ever seen. That's not through rose tinted glasses, that's reality, I saw it with my own uninhibited eyes. I was enthralled and dizzy with excitement. It's been a downward spiral ever since, although we did win the title the following season, not quite sure how but we certainly were not at the previous season levels. I doubt whether we'll ever see that level again.

The reality is that the pack have caught up, we set the standards and as always the chasers catch up, fathom out how to beat us, even lowly Gustav Klimt worked it out and implemented it on Tuesday. This writing has been on the wall since the beginning of last season and I've seen nothing in the tank either from the players or the coaches to suggest us surging to the front again. There was a glimmer of hope a couple of months ago, but that hope has quickly turned to despair. We are still involved on four fronts, it looks a distinct possibility that all 5 English clubs will make the top eight which is interesting, so plenty to fight for and cheer on....probably in vain, but you never know !!

Steady on Sparkle

You will have the great unwashed dashing to google only to find out that Klimt is dead and an Ostrich.

Was he(Klimt) really working the touchline like that Monkey Arteta with a cork up his asre ?
