Hardly anyone mentions khusa on here and yet I rate him a lot higher than anyone else at the back .

He’s far better than Dias in my opinion - 100-% he will be here for the foreseeable.

I mention him, i rate him highly and he's still only a kid. He will be a great player

Sorry, but this has to come down to the manager’s instructions. It can’t just be that the team suddenly develops an inferiority complex every single fucking time we play the second half of matches.
Anyone got any other plausible theory that isn’t ‘it’s the manager’s fault’? I’m all ears !!

Newcastle had an xg of 0.0 from open play in the second half. That tells you that defensively, city got it absolutely spot on.

The fact that we didn't convert our excellent chances, is on us, we should have been more clinical. The fact that you are blaming the manager for that second half performance makes you look stupid. His substitutions were also spot on too

Lies. damn lies and statistics, A very true saying by Mark Twain .
I'd leave the goal expectancy stats in the fucking bin and just watch the game wonderwall . Defensively in that game we were far from spot on. Khusanov coming on for Dias was a good moved forced on Pep by Dias getting booked . Nunes and Nouri , are still guilty of losing possession trying to dribble the ball out of defence.
Our second half fall offs have become our trademark, our DNA since last seasons fuck ups. That's on Pep

A lot of the board members see the same game Carl. Some can't watch the game though and still comment during the game.
I , like PB Lee saw the second half as great containment.

With regards to Khus, he is playing very well. I think Pep started Dias to see if he could play well. He failed, his passing was overly complicated and went astray at least three times when not under pressure. Indeed one of his passes lead to a very dangerous counter attack, fortunately Gordon fluffed it. He overhit passes to the wing players giving throws away to the geordies. He got himself booked by being too slow to make a challenge.

The yellow card was a perfect foil for Pep to replace him with Khus, who is growing stronger week by week.
Khus made a very telling tackle mid way through the half

On their left, after Nunes was forced over to the left back position.
Khus had to cover a lot of ground to make a perfect tackle. He was very fast and made the perfect tackle ,winning the ball. However it went out for a throw and city could not take advantage.

He should start against Leeds, definitely.

Ait Nouri , the third game in a row where he has been selfish instead of playing Haarland in. He needs to get it into his head, it is not about personal glory, but about the team.

The same for Marmoush.and Semenyo. Both off form last night. Particularly in the second half where City had enough chances to easily kill the game off but didn't thereby allowing the geordies a chance to search for an equaliser.

Best atmosphere for ages last night. Nico rightly getting MOTM but Haaland was immense, hold up play, assist and our best defender as well. Guehi- quality, Semenyo did a couple of things wrong but the ball to Haaland for the 2nd goal and his take down and run in the 2nd half was brilliant. If the shot would have matched it would have been Goal of the Season.
Nunes quality again, felt far safer when Khus was on. I don't think there was a 2nd half drop off, they scored in the 1st half, had 1 ruled out and a few chances. I never felt nervous until the last few minutes because we had the better chances 2nd half by far but couldn't convert.

I’ll refrain from going for your jugular as I have had a very good week!

We have been CONSISTENTLY shit in the second half of.matches since the turn of the year ( it’s not a one off !!! ) and you would have to be a complete fucking retard to argue otherwise.

Defending at home against a team that we always beat ?Arsenal do that and look at the state of those bottlers!!!
We look nervous fuck defending and very rarely do what we did in years gone by and that is to keep our style of play going till the end.

The question was why are we shit in every game second half - it’s Valid question.

It's as if we're not playing against any decent teams. It's so simple that we should have it all our own way for the entire 90mins.

Some fair points Zurich , i agree with all of them, looking at replays of the game , i thought Marmoush had a decent half , in fact most of the players did. Shame for Dias but i don't think he had the pace to cope with Gordon or Elanga. Nunes does have the pace but he was caught out of position and was nowhere near

You are right Stu, and Liverpool and Newcastle are good teams especially on home soil.
We hung on yesterday and did well to keep them out. I expect teams that are losing to up their game and try to get back into it , yesterday we could have had a couple more goals in both halves. I don't know though, it's just like there is a switch turned on at half time and we sit back or gave up territorial advantage.

Watched MOTD for first time in a while . thought it was a good assessment by Rooney and Micah . Haaland came in for a lot of praise as well as Nico . An interesting Heat map for Haaland showing him all over the pitch

Dias was obvious, Marmoush also obvious but good he did it early. Semenyo , game nearly over and he was probably feeling the knocks he had taken
Of the 3 that came on Khusanov had the pace and strength required, Cherki produced less than Marmoush , Foden no game time but could have scored

Squandered some good chances in the second half

Although Haaland didn't score , i thought he had a good game and got stuck in

I agree with everything you say except the Cherki analysis, he was busy tidying up and keeping simple possession and he played Nouri through on goal with an absolutely fantastic pass and he also set up Semenyo with a chance he also should have scored. I was impressed.

Dias is so poor. We've built up this myth that he's a top quality player - the truth is he's had 1 good season since being here. Apart from that season he's looked ordinary.

Khus over him at the moment.
