Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

put it like this:
if robbie wants to stay, then we have the financial clout to tell barca to do one.
if he wants to go, we will get a lot of catalan cash in exchange.
either way, we will be fine. also agree with NQDP, la marca is about as reliable as turdinand when there's a drug test due.

Robson is a hugely important part of what we are trying to do here, his reputation helps us with attracting players aswell as strikes fear into right backs up and down the country. Yes, I agree £32.5m was too much for him but at the time Real had rejected a £28m bid from Chelsea just a few hours before meaning we had to make them an offer they couldn't refuse with there being so little time left in the window. Besides all that he is easily a £20/25m player anyway simply because of his ability to turn a game in a matter of seconds and his rep all over the world.
Robinho will be here for the rest of the season of that I have no doubt because theres not a chance Mark Hughes would let one of his top players go in the winter window but, IF we fail to get in the top 4 at the end of the season and Barca come in for Robbie, I would have no problems with him moving on because a player of his calibre deserves to play in the Champions League for a top club (hopefully that will be us next season). If we get in the top 4 I would expect him to stay and i'm sure he would.
If like I say he does move on it wouldn't be the end of the world because he would go in the summer giving us plenty of time to find a quality replacement. If he were to leave, the player I personally would like to come in for him would be Ashley Young at Villa.

Barca would have to cough up in excess of £50m imo to land Robbie, he's one our greatest assets and we are no longer a selling club. If he desires a move and comes out and says so then that's a different story, i'd want him out as soon as possible as i hate protracted transfers, but that report doesn't indicate that's what he's saying at all.
Journalism is a peice of piss, just stick a microphone under the nose of someone and ask them if they'd like to play for X club or X club and they are bound to say something exactly what Robbie has said. They are called leading questions and are very hard to avoid saying exactly what the journalist wants you to say. Interviewers are experts at it and MP's are experts at avoiding them, footballers are not.

He aint goin nowhere, nor does he want to, how many times has he said?? Those quotes mean fuckall, just answering what was put in front of him, an edited interview no doubt. Until I see the "I want to leave City" quote I will take this shit like a pinch of bored journalism salt.

He's spoken of his admiration for Barca before as well as saying he fancies staying at City for the next 5 years. Most of the 'quotes' in the past left the bit about City out in order to stir shit. Do we know if this is any different? Do we know who he said it to & where? Do you remember how he said the same thing about going back to his old club in Brazil only for it to turn out that he didn't say it at all? He was only just saying how good we were about 2 days ago, why should that have changed? It's not as if this Barca story is new.
If he starts pissing about angling for a move then I'll be straight on him for it but all he's allegedly done here is the same as most players do when asked the question.
Imo Barca won't move for him anyway. He's the last kind of player they need after signing Ibrahimovic.

Quality, quality player and will be immense this season and hopefully he is fit for saturday.
Doesn't mean fuck all and 99% of players would say their flattered and admire barca but everytime he actually says something it's about how he is happy and looking forward to making history with us.

How do we know the quote "It's not easy to say no to a team like Barcelona " wasn't cropped from "It's not easy to say no to a team like Barcelona, BUT I'm happy at City and I intend on seeing out my contract - and fergies a cunt" ?
We don't know. At the end of the day they get away with printing quotes because they quoted what he did say. Whether it was the full answer is another matter.

Well thats nearly 4 minutes of reasons why you dont sell one of the best players in the world.
1) Report Barcelona for tapping up
2) Ok Barcelona, you can have him for Messi, no?
3) Fuck off we beat you on your own ground anyway with our reserve team
4) We will beat you again in 2011 Champions League final, and guess who will score the winner?!?! Messi hahahaha

On a more serious note I am still coming to terms with actually being able to watch football being played like that in a Manchester City shirt. I can't understand why anyone would want rid of the guy?

He really linked up well with Elano a few times in that vid.. I hope we can se the connection between him and Ireland grow to something similar… not quite there yet
On topic. Talking about him leaving without the team loosing quality is just pure nonsense

what a video, the mans amazing.
I admire barcelona aswell and if I was playing at city and barca came for me I'd struggle to say no,and thats despite being a life long city fan. Robbie though is a joy to watch, for me he's worth the entrance fee sometimes just for them few seconds where he makes someone look like a twat

We've not even dare dream of watching players like Robinho for bloody years. The guy was a success last season and no mistake, yet some would actually take a loss for him to leave? WTF?
Barca would have to come up with some fee and a hefty wage deal to nick him. I can't see that in the near future.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.
