Don't really see how people can justify taking Lescott & Barry on 1) their touch & go injuries & 2) their respective level of performance this season!

Just a question, why do we take 3 keepers? There's a possible 7 games is it? If we reach the final, if 2 keepers can't last 7 games between them, something doesn't want you to win it. Gamble 2 keepers and 5 strikers.

When you're an England fan, you may as well ask why we bother taking more than 2 strikers.

I'd leave Wes Brown & Heskey at home.I don't know what more those two have to do to prove they're shit. Heskey was never especially good anyway but now he's past it.

In the unlikely event that Owen Hargreaves proves himself 100% fit, I'd take him. He's shown before that he can pick up the pace of games very soon after long term injury & is a class above our other def mf options. If he runs himself into the ground & never plays again afterwards, all well & good.

Gk: Hart, James, Green.

Rb: Johnson, Carragher (or CB)

Lb: ArseyCole, Baines.

CB: Terry, Wio, Dawson, King

Def Mf: Carrick, Parker (Hargreaves instead if fit)

Mf: Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Joe Cole, Johnson, SWP.

Fwds: Rooney, Crouch, DeFoe, Zamora.

Edit: forgot Lennon, He'd probably have to go in place of either J Cole, Johnson or SWP. Usually there's a late injury though so perhaps he'd take another spot.

I'm sure one of the resident anoraks will confirm but I am 99% sure that it is FIFA rules that you take 23 players and 3 of them MUST be goalkeepers

Confirmed.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

For what it's worth, I am going to choose only players who are fit and have been playing for their clubs regularly, a hypotheitcal situation which would leave you with... not a right lot. The squad that picks itself in fact.

GK - Hart, James, Kirkland

DEF - Carragher, Brown, Baines, Warnock, Terry, Dawson, Jagielka, Huddlestone

MID - Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick, Parker, Milner, Young, Downing, Adam Johnson

FW - Kevin Davies, Crouch, Bent, Defoe
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.
