Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Wrong but I can confirm that he will be in the premier league next year. ITs Blackpool's new mascot. Having turned down offers from Wolves and Hull he is going to join Blackpool.

he Smurf's are odd's on to join city though. Ajay told me in tesco last week, in the freezer aisle

Patrick Vieira is hoping to remain with Manchester City next season after gaining enough Premier League appearances to activate a one-year extension on his contract.

The France international signed from Inter Milan in January but a calf injury has limited the midfielder during his time with City.

City are expecting to negotiate a deal with the Frenchman in the coming weeks and will ultimately decide whether or not to keep the former Arsenal star.

Vieira is adamant that he wants to stay with City and help the club earn the Champions League berth that they narrowly missed on this season.

“I want to help the club continue to improve and get Champions League football. We need to talk and hopefully there might be something,” Vieira told the Daily Mail.

“I want to stay and the club wants me to stay, so that is a good start.”

Vieira played in 14 games for City this season and could have a better chance to remain with the club after the team failed to make the Champions League.

However, the Frenchman believes that starting in the Europa League could be a necessary stepping stone for City to become one of the Premier League’s elite clubs.

“When I was at Arsenal we started in the UEFA Cup and got to the final.

“After that we have played Champions League football every year. Maybe City need to go that way to become one of the great clubs in this country.”

If some clause was activated then why do we negotiate with him?

Anyway, provided he takes GIANT wage cut, I'd actually keep his as cover. Can't be used as regular starter anymore but seemed to still have it when the game has slower than usual pace. Which will be the case in most games in early rounds of Europa League.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Manchester City are close to signing Olympiakos Under-21 international Kyriakos Papadopoulos for 4million euros, according to reports.

Reports from Italy have suggested are closing in on the 18-year-old midfielder, although Bayer Leverkusen are also interested.

City are already looking for the successor to Micah Richards, a Manchester United target, and one of the candidates is the Greek teenager.

Their intention to offer 4million euros for Papadopoulos will be very welcome by Olympiakos at this stage.

Papadopoulos has a contract with the Reds until next summer, but he will not renew it despite Olympiakos' calls for a new deal, as he anticipates the interest of major European clubs.

In view of that the Piraeus club are considering selling this summer so as to avoid losing him for free next year, says www.sportingreece.com.

Leverkusen are also reported to be keeping an eye on Papadopoulos, but they are yet to make their move.

Are we doing our shopping from the FM wonderkid list? Kompany, Corluka and now Papadopoulos. What's next? Alex Teixeira?

"The Times" is linking us with Hamzik and Balotelli today (reported on SSN, and mentioned in the daily Bollox too)

Yes. Really really good.

His playing style is quite similar to Ireland. Only he has more pace. Lacks bit on the physical side though but if we are going for Defensive midfielder - attacking midfielder central midfield pairing next season, he would be excellent option.

I don't know why but I have a weird feeling that Balotelli would be an entertaining signing

I'd rather sign someone who is known to be a bit of a nutter/handful and have someone who has successfully managed him before to look after him than sign a whiney little Brazilian cunt like Robinho again

He could be our Di Canio/Cantona

We've not had a decent headcase/temperamental genius since Eyal Berkovic

Robinho's pretty fucking close.

Balotelli would huge risk signing by Mancini. He would command a large fee and there's no guarantee how he'd turn out. Besides his clear character flaws, as a player he is still raw and questions remain whether he is willing to work on those weaknessess. Personally I would stay well away.

Give us Lucho González and Taiwo and you got yourselves a deal. Or Hatem Ben Arfa and some dosh.
