There is alot of truth in these kind of things.
I used to work for wetherspoons in piccadilly gardens for about 3 years, every st georges day the police had written to our head office saying that flags and all the bits and bobs about celebrating being english should be kept to a absolute minimum. The bouncers was also told to refuse people wearing england shirts from my managers who had been told by head office.
Its not shite, Its quitely happening but its not making national news or papers because people would kick off big time but we wouldnt want that would we.
St Georges day is a day sadly that is used by the dregs of society to highlight the elements of British society that a tiny minority want to hold onto.

Not sure what you are getting at with this but doesn't every event (for whatever) held around the world bring out the dregs? Or do you mean anyone that that enjoys ST Georges day is a dreg?

Try living out here, they are called thongs, which I am sure the occasional blonde has had an uncomfortable day with a pair wedged in her butt crack.

And have not been told to do it...just another form of Police bashing and givng people a chance to have a go at something that does not exist.

It wasnt because it offended anyone but because if England win or lose fans have a habit of kicking off after a skinful and taking it out on those deemed non English.

There's probably some truth to this. When England got knocked out by Portugal in 2006, a Spanish restaraunt was ransacked there. I remember getting a text about it after my graduation ceremony. Although the banning of wearing shirts will do little to affect the mentality behind this, it will possibly deter people from congregating.
Surely if it was to prevent offending 'non-Brits' (by which I assume the implied demographic is 'conservative Muslims'), then we'd be closing the pubs and banning drinking?
