Valencia president Manuel Llorente has confirmed that talks have taken place with Manchester City over the possible £25 million transfer of Spain winger David Silva.
City chief executive Garry Cook, who returned from a business trip to Spain on Friday night with football administrator Brian Marwood, had been due to meet Llorente in Valencia on Thursday before re-scheduling for a later date.
Llorente said: “The news is true. City got in touch with us asking for a meeting, but then they informed us that they could not come and that they intend to do so a little further down the line."

Real Madrid Director Puts Blockers On Manchester City Move For Gonzalo Higuain
Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano insists Manchester City's number one summer target Gonzalo Higuain is not for sale.
The Argentine hit-man is currently locked into a contract dispute with the Spanish club, having finished as their top-scorer during the 2009-10 season to steer them to second place in the La Liga.
It is believed the former River Plate forward earns only £15,000-a-week at the Bernabeu, and it's been reported he's haggling over new terms with the Blancos amid interest from the Citizens.
However, despite the on-going wage disputes Valdano has ruled out any sale for the 22-year-old prolific goal scorer.
"[Gonzalo] Higuain is under contract for three more years and he set the benchmark last season," he said according to the Daily Mail.
"He is not for sale."
Manchester City are believed to be looking to add more firepower to their ranks as they prepare to launch a serious bid for the Premier League title next season.

Edit:
According to the Gazette of the Sport, in newspaper stand quest' today, Dzeko would be nearest the company with the Manchester City. According to the sport daily paper, the English square would be disposed to pay the clause of 40 million, also to carry the Bosnian in England. The Wolsfburg will embed approximately 35 million euro and the player will sign a quinquennial one from 4,8 million euro. To how much the Milan seems will have to raise flag white woman and, second the ' rosea' , with the lacked purchase Dzeko it will be aimed at the reaffirmation of Huntelaar.

What a shit player he is, can't believe we'd ever want him and especially not at the expense of Ade!
Just hope it's his agent talking bollocks

I don't belive his agent in the slightest - I wouldn't put it past McLeish to have suggested some mischievous bollox to his agent either

He wasn't telling the press, he was telling Madrid to get the finger out.
Also, what is a good enough reason to postpone negotiating for David Silva? I can't think of one off hand. What we did with Palacios in order to get a free run for Bellamy is what goes on all the time IMO and its going on right now.
If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say its something along the lines of us wanting Higuain, Madrid not wanting to sell, so we make a move on Silva who Madrid want... knowing that city even entering talks will push his price up.
I'd LOVE to just watch one full transfer take place. There's so much more to it than we'll ever know.
