ridiculous post...

So you think he went to real madrid and not city because he doesnt want a challenge???
Mourinho not confident ion his own ability?? we thinking about the same bloke?
his last 3 clubs mourinho has done remarkable jobs and now he has probably the biggest, most challenging and most pressured job in club football

Surely we'd have to have gotten further than just making an offer to activate the clause inane case, unless we are already at an advanced stage of talks it isn't going to happen

Anyone check the 'Official' site lately? Not seen this posted, a message from Roberto:

Roberto Mancini has moved swiftly to shoot down the belief that the Blues are operating a scattergun transfer policy this summer.
The irritated Italian has urged Blues fans to take with a pinch of salt the wild speculation linking the club with dozens of signings all over the globe and to ignore the supposed procession of big name departures.

Mancini instead, today, reassured supporters that the genuine list of targets is small, specific and designed to make sure the team improves on last season’s fifth placed finish.

The manager stressed that patience and value for money will, as ever, be the twin tenants on which any Blues buying will be based.

“We know the players who we are interested in. It is a small list of names, because I only want to bring in players who will improve the team,” confirmed the boss.

“Of course we have various options and it is not easy and it is not always possible to do things quickly. We must be patient, and do the right things at the right time in the market. We know the value of the players we are interested in and will not be forced into paying more than we want to.

'I keep reading that I am going to sign lots of players in the summer and am also going to sell lots of players. This is not true, and I am surprised because people know that I already have a very strong squad at Manchester City'

Having managed Inter in Serie A and now the Premier League, Mancini is supremely well aware that attaching a marquee club to a player’s name can make interest and fees spiral in tandem – mainly to the benefit of third parties.

“Most of the players I read about we are not trying to bring to Manchester City,” he declared, knowingly, before emphasising his confidence in the vast majority of those who got to within one game of Champions League qualification this season and in the process set several club top-flight records.

“I am confident that the current squad is capable of improving on last season’s fifth-place finish and the Club will not be held to ransom on price for any new players,” he asserted.

“I am looking forward to working with the squad after the World Cup. Pre-season is going to be very important for us to work hard and be ready for the Premier League.”

That squad will be made up for the most part of familiar names including Emmanuel Adebayor who has been subject to one of the more head-shaking bouts of speculation this weekend.

“It is important to remember the squad we have is improving and most of the players have not been here for a long time. City supporters do not need to be worried about us losing our best players,” Mancini reassured any fretting fans.

“In fact, the Club has had no offers from any club for any of our players.

“In Emmanuel’s case, he is a top player who can score lots of goals for Manchester City. I know he can improve and I am looking forward to working with him in pre-season.”

Top quality from Mancini and the club. I am particularly pleased as for me it confirms what i was thinking at the end of the season, namely that there was no reason to believe in wholesale changes and that we were still improving.
He knows the weak spots as we all do, and it is good that they are looking to build rather than buy and confirming that.. for the fans and to selling clubs and of course the press. It wont stop the press or agents using us for stories, but it does go a long way to setting the fans minds at rest. I have a great sense of calmness after reading that. We can be confident of pulling in some targetted talent for the areas we need while keeping the continuity in the best of what we have.
Top top stuff
C'mon City!! ..we're 'avin this

right im forgettting this rumour stuff and gonna wait till whatever it is has actually signed, probably not until well after the WC

Sport.es Saying Juan Mata in negotiations with Barca regarding a move from Valencia.

Whilst I know he's a midfielder, if they get Fabregas and Mata, that must mean Toure and one other is departing surely??

I can see them using Mata as a way to discourage Arsenal from spanking them over the transfer fee on Cesc.

I like it and agree with him. We need couple of key additions. Playmaker being the most important. And probably some quality strength to striking department and probably one or two defenders. That's it. Other than that, we should be able to mount serious challenge for top four with the current players and right tactics and training.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I really really want this to happen. Been banging on about him for ages now. If we give him little bit time to settle, I reckon he will be proper world class goal scorer for us.

Yeah, but the story to me reads as "Bosnian player playing for a German club will be signed by an English club and a FRENCH paper is ITK".

But according to everyone else no-one has paid the €40M clause.

L'equipe used to be a decent source back in my day, so here is what they have got to say now:

Dzeko n'ira nulle part

"Dzeko going nowhere" is the headline. Dieter Hoeness says no-one has paid the clause fee so unless someone pays more that seems to be that.

I'd agree, with the caveat that Ireland needs to stay. Very similar style of playmaking to Misimovic, who Dzeko links up with really well for Wolfsburg and the national team.

if anything Barca miss a bit of depth with the same quality as Xavi and Iniesta.. they rely heavily on these players and suffer if one or tother is out. I rekon they realise to fight for the CL and la Liga they cant just rely on these two to play every game. The other thing is they miss is a directness, so they can kill two birds with one stone by drafting players that have a more direct approach to alternate with Xavi and Iniesta as the heart of the team. So my take is they wont necessarily offload any midfielders as a result of drafting a couple in. That said Yaya is the player yet to prove his consistency and looks like the weak link, so i wouldn't be surprised to see him move on.

People keep talking about Yaya and yes, he is quality player imo BUT NOT what we need. Unless we are going to sell Nigel, Which I don't think will happen.
