Anybody else happy Walcotts out?? I thought he was poor and he going on about he didn't deserve it last time he was picked under Sven but he deserves it now BS he keeps spouting really gets on my nerves. Also shows we got the superior player right now playing for us :). Lets hope SWP has a screamer.

So, Walcott, Parker, AJ, Bent, Dawson, Baines and Huddlestone out.

Not too much of shock considering.

didn't really give Johnson a fair crack but otherwise that list seems reasonable to me

I think parker should feel pretty hard done by ... I have no idea how Michael Carrick can be going instead of him.

I definitely would have had parker in that squad instead of carrick. Other than that I can't argue much, I would have liked to see AJ go, but realistically I would not want him to be in a walcott situation either (picked too young, crushed under media scrutiny, etc ...) Even though on form he would definitely deserve it ... even over SWP I think. Though I hope SWP has a great WC ... except everyone but the USA.

A midfield 8 made up of 5 central players and 3 right wingers. Hmm. Not what I would have gone for.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Emile William Ivanhoe Heskey, 7 goals in 58 games for England. Going to World Cup. Explain that to me.

thats what i was thinking. Capello probably thouhgt it was a bit too soon for AJ and not really fair on him... who really was the ideal candidate for the left

I have a feeling he has Joe Cole pencilled to play on left for you.

I'd put money on Joe Cole on the left

well in Heskey you have a battering ram (ish) player who creates spaces for our better players (so i'm told) and a ready made scapegoat.

don't underestimate the importance of a scapegoat ... just look how well it has served us over the years.

Useless strikers alongside Rooney make him play better, proven at club level.

How has Upson made it ahead of Dawson?? Capello is full of brown sticky stuff, did he not say that he would select players on form?? Upson has had a stinker alongside Carrick but both go. I would even go as far as to throw SWP into that and say Johnson was far better in the last 6 months!!

Rene Higuita, goalkeeper (Columbia), 68 caps 8 goals.

Jose Luis Chilavert, goalkeeper(Paraguay), 74 caps 8 goals

Today just proved that Capello had pretty much picked his squad long before the last 2 'make or break' matches. I dont blame him for picking players who have done the job for him before. Its a shame he didnt take AJ just for a bit of something different but hey ho.

Baines and Huddlestone were out of their depth, Walcott too much of a gamble, Parker/Dawson/Jonno didnt get a look in, Bent was scoreless again against Japan.

I trust Capello
