i agree although cb is easily his best position and i also feel mancini will turn him into the next maicon. Really like this deal we got ourselves a young talented defender who has the potential to be one of the best and we also got him for peanuts.

Boateng deal sounds like it is going to get done. Still have to see him holding up the shirt though.

i like the sound of him and as a young player it is the way to go. This will no doubt give the RB's and CB's something to think about and up the level to fight for a place. The back 4 in general need something to boost their collective confidence.. although they got to be a reasonably solid unit towards the end of the season they still lacked dynamism and looked to lack confidence in playing the ball out and holding a position further up the pitch.. i think it gave the rest of the team a lot problems basically. Toure will have no excuses this season..

Boateng - Kompany - Lescott - Bridge

Micah - Boateng - Kompany - Lescott

what does this stuff continue to make us look amateurish in our dealings in transfers? very frustrating read, but maybe i should temper that with a bit of consideration that it's posturing for a deal on the part of Wolfsburg...

http://football365.com/story/0,17033,86 ... 76,00.html

Wolfsburg insist they have not received a bid from Manchester City for highly-rated striker Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko has been the subject of heightened transfer talk lately after it emerged the frontman had a release clause in his contract should a fee be agreed.

An initial period for offers in the region of £35million was not met with any concrete advances, according to the club, but new reports have circulated suggesting City had tabled a bid.

City boss Roberto Mancini was said to be one of the early frontrunners to try and capture the Bosnia forward, who netted 22 goals last season in 34 appearances.

But managing director Dieter Hoeness says he has not received anything in the way of a bid since the deadline for an automatic release passed at midnight on Monday.

He told Deutsche Presseagentur: "There is no bid, we have received no offer. What we have received was an email, short, before the end of Monday.

"But that email was in a written form and with regard to its content in no way near anything we could and wanted to consider in this case.

"We have not changed our viewpoint on the future of Edin Dzeko, we want him to stay on."

Dzeko's contract at the Volkswagen Arena expires in June 2013, but a release clause in his deal means an agreed fee - offered before the end of May - would trigger his exit.

The 24-year-old has reportedly courted the interest of City's rivals Manchester United.

Why is it another botch job, where does it state that City have made an offer? Do the highlighted words state that City have made an offer, does it say the E-Mail is from our club? It's still all specualtion and rumour.

I have no doubts that we have made enquiries about Dzeko like we have with a few others, but at the same time I do not think he is our first choice. I also think that with him having interest from the likes of Milan and United then our team don't want to be seen as the patsie's again if the player himself decides on joining one of them.

I think the plan would be 'Lay the Seed', if you know what I mean.
