Or like calling Birmingham a top 9 team. Seriously, LET ONE OF THESE GO.

If we're going to use approximations he should have called us top four.

Yaya Toure to sign today

Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure is on the verge of completing his protracted move to Manchester City, and will undergo a medical in South Africa today. The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in the last 18-months, most notably Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, but it appears Roberto Mancini has beaten his rivals Carlo Ancelotti, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger by offering the La Liga giants £28 million.

Last January, the 27-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City and Chelsea, while recent speculation has suggested that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would insist on the player being part of any deal Barca were planning for Cesc Fabregas. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was also linked with the Ivorian, not least because of his concerns over the fitness prospects of perennial absentee Owen Hargreaves. Despite the strong interest in Toure, El Mundo Deportivo believe Toure will finalise his move to Manchester City later on today.

The report claims Manchester City have blown their rivals out of the water with a massive £28 million offer which would make Toure the most expensive defensive midfielder in the world. The newspaper intimates that City’s rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were not willing to go above £20 million.

Toure will reportedly undergo a medical at his base with the Ivory Coast in South Africa later today before finalising his personal terms with Manchester City’s representatives.

It wasn't leaked to a local paper - the exact same story was in the News of the World on Sunday and they had the cheek to seem holier than thou about all the ridiculous players linked with City. Either it's been a briefing by a real City source or the MEN are just plagiarising stories.

I believe this is the official way to do this...

But for those who prefer to read stories, rather than play detective:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1288427/Manchester-City-beat-Chelsea-race-sign-29m-Valencia-forward-David-Silva.html

No name on the article though, so hold off the tattoo just yet.

FAO NQDP

clearly you didn't get laid last night since you were such a pissypants about the David Silva topic.

I think it's ok to start a new topic for a confirmed/close to confirmed/waiting to be confirmed signing. Was the OP of that thread like 24 hours too anxious? let's hope so but once it seems a real deal i'd rather we discuss it in a new topic. Just my 2 cents. I didn't get laid last night either btw. however, the night isn't over yet. And i'm sleeping with my dog tonight. Just sayin.

Also, get some poontang and chill out you eskimo fucler.

cheers

very amusing...but it brings up an interesting teaser re Antti. Is he a miser?

His grumpy demeanor often makes me suspect that he would be the type to insist on going Dutch with his gf if they go for dinner, or quibbling over a bill for a meal with friends as he didn't have a coffee....but maybe I have him wrong. Maybe his uptight online persona hides the true face of a happy-go-lucky bon vivant?

Last season, I'd have taken a done deal in the mail as a done deal, as they seemed to have become an unofficial source for official leaks. Think the nice articles by Martin Samuel helped. This year, no one seems to know what's happening. Even the MEN are forced to repeat what they find in other papers or read on forums (someone must have upset chris bailey before he left).

As a result, until it's on the official site, it's a rumour and should stay in here, so i'm with NQDP on that. Yeah, i'm miserable too, but it's because the nights gave started closing in again - soon be winter.

Joan Oliver, DG of Barca, said at his press conference last night that 'only the signatures are missing'. Everything else is done.

Maybe today is the day then? Although in the last 18 months City have had a nasty habit of announcing things about a week after they are done!

I was only half watching the Ivory Coast Match the other night. Don't know that much about him. Whose position in the Team is likely to be under threat from the arrival of Yaya Toure?

I think it's MUST to start topic about confirmed deals. I don't think there's any need to start topics about "close to confirmation according to tabloid". Even less so if it says so in his wikipedia page. According to Daily Mail we are close to agreeing deal with 19 players and another 13 are to be confirmed in next couple of days.

I CAN however confirm I didn't get laid last night. Months vacation starts on thursday though and I'm a proud owner of my first own boat so things couldn't be better. -
