Also, Yaya Toure seems more like Patrick in his halcyon days at Arsenal than he does like a hardcore defensive midfielder, no?

Even if Yaya is like Paddy back in the day, it doesn't change the fact that he is not an out and out playmaker.

Lahm would be absolute disaster in Premier League. Luckily, he isn't going to come either so that discussion is bit pointless.

Really, you don't like Lahm? Really?

I think he'd make brilliant right winger if that helps?

Not really, two posters and City players and me + some German.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I know it`s the mirror but...

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Tr ... 96043.html

De Jong to join SWP on City scrapheap

Nigel De Jong is set to become a shock casualty at Manchester City following the Blues’ £24million capture of Yaya Toure.

The Dutch international arrived at Eastlands just 17 months ago in a £16m deal from Hamburg.

But his future is in serious doubt after Roberto Mancini made Toure his first big-name signing of the summer after finally agreeing a deal with Barcelona for the Ivory Coast international.

City now have four defensive central midfielders – with Gareth Barry and Patrick Vieira also in Mancini’s squad – and Vincent Kompany has also been used in that role.

That could make De Jong surplus to requirements, even though he has become a cult hero with the City fans after some tenacious displays.

There would be no shortage of interest in the 25-year-old, who is anchoring Holland’s midfield at the World Cup.

Mancini is ready for a major clear-out of players once he has recruited the signings he has earmarked.

Sunday Mirror Sport revealed two weeks that Barcelona’s Brazilian full-back Dani Alves is on City’s radar, with the world’s richest club ready to pay £40m.

Alves’s arrival would enable Mancini to listen to offers for Micah Richards and Nedum Onuoha. Spurs want Richards, while Sunderland and Everton are ready to vie for Onuoha.

Fans’ favourite Shaun Wright-Phillips, who has failed to agree a new contract with City because of his wage demands, may find himself out in the cold if Valencia’s £30m-rated winger David Silva can be tempted to Manchester.

City also hope to tie up a £25m deal with Aston Villa for James Milner after the World Cup, which would signal the end of unsettled Stephen Ireland’s stay at Eastlands.

Liverpool and Everton both want the midfielder.

Yes well done Ted I was going to comment on that phrase but couldn't find the words this morning!

The Mirror doesn't remember Bobby being aghast at the low number of decent midfield players at the club, hence the emergency Vieira signing.

Therefore there is really no reason to support the idiot view that one midfield signing means someone else's demise. It'll be a long, hard season.

Plus whenever I watch Touré or Vieira they seem to have a focus on attacking the other team's last third, unlike messrs Dejong and Barry who are actually defensive midfielders.

We played Barry many times last season when he was clearly not fit & he wasn't the same player. Now we don't need to. Seems simple enough to me.

Also I would`ve thought the signinig of Ozil would signal the end of Ireland not Milner..

SSN also "understands" Jose putting a bid of £40m in for Carlos. Taggart was right after all he`s not worth £25m then.

Offcourse man :D

He started his career in Zeljeznicar (nickname Zeljo, my favorite club in Bosnia, and offcourse biggest club), where he has played since 2003. until 2005. At 18 he went to the Czech Republic, where for Teplice in one season he played 43 matches and scored 17 goals. At the end of the season has been declared the best foreigner in the Czech league. His perfect game was Felix Magath noticed and 2007. The transfer of 4 million euros worth went to Germany VfL Wolfsburg. In the 2008-09 season., Plays great, and with Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga with 26 goals was second best scorer of the league. In qualifying for the World Cup in South Africa 2010th for the BiH national team, he scored 7 goals, where he was the top scorer in qualifying in 2008. year, a total for the national team played 18 matches and scored 14 goals.

That's 2 supporters we have in Bosnia now, a 100% increase.

Although I fancy 'Blue in Bosnia' is English.

Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas says he is happy at the Spanish giants - but he has not ruled out the possibility of a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 29-year-old Spanish international's consistent performances have attracted much interest, including from both Manchester United and City.

While he been at the Spanish giants all his career and is happy at present, he does not rule out moving on some day.

This may come sooner than later if a big money bid comes in for Casillas, especially as new Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has revealed he wants to buy a top-class keeper this summer.

Casillas, who is currently on duty at the World Cup, told the Daily Star Sunday: "I am aware of the interest of both Manchester United and City.

Flattered
"I'm always flattered whenever another club shows interest in my qualities as a goalkeeper. I have been at Real Madrid all my career and I still enjoy going to training every day.

"I enjoy meeting the fans too - but we all know how uncertain things are in football.

"I'm not going to say never. Right now Madrid would have to kick me out of the club before I consider a move.

"Who knows what will happen, though, if a big money offer comes in."

Perhaps he has the same agent as Buffon. He'll probably 'snub' us next week then be flattered again the week after.
