Still think we're in for Torres, Dzeko would be a possible backup so no doubt we will be talking to his people but probably not bidding until Torres gives an answer. Balotelli is 19 & mental so there's no chance whatsoever he would be anything other than a signing , like Boateng, with an eye on the future with the possibility of a regular starting place if he's outstanding.

Ibra would just be a case of replacing one huge gamble with another. Nothing to lose there really.

Imo if we get our targets we'll have Torres, Ibra swap for Robbie & no Dzeko or Balotelli (unless Iter offer him to us).

I think Barca want to get rid of Ibra, but because they paid so much last summer they'll only do it for a price that's right for them. I can see Dzeko playing in a City shirt next year. I think Wolsburg will be asking for a lot though, over the odds but we're used to that. And at least it isn't going to another Prem club. Balotelli is a difficult one isn't it. He doesn't get on with their fans and has taken a lot of stick, some justified, from their board and previous manager. But with a new manager coming in I could see him staying there for another year at least.

Still three quality players who we wouldn't have dreamed about even being linked with a few years ago. The future is looking good :)

Niall Quinns Discopants wrote:I saw Luiz quite a few times over past couple of seasons as one channel here were showing Portuguese league games from previous season during the summer and as there was fuck all else football on, I ended up watching it quite a lot. Unfortunately they aren't doing it this summer so can't say about last season.

Anyway, Luiz was real standout defender there. Easily the best defensive player on the league (including Veloso). Mostly seemed to play centerback but played leftback as well which is the position I think he'd occupy with us. Then again, I don't rate overly attacking fullbacks and going forward seems to be main thing for many in fullback (no wind up) so opinion of him might be diverse on him.

Then there's the fact that portuguese league has got to be softest league in Europe. So it MIGHT take him time to adapt. Then again, as a player he seems perfect fit for modern Premier League in that he is skillfull, yet still good defender so there's real potential in him to be one of the best defenders in the league. Reminds me bit of Heinze, although not as dirty.

One thing that genuinely makes me happy is that we are linked/signing fullbacks who can play in central defense as well and are defenders first and foremost. I like that.

The thing with full backs is, if you want to be one of the top teams in the league, then you need good attacking fullbacks. We want to be winning games week in week out. We need to be getting at teams from the off, and putting games to bed. Attacking full backs are a must if your gonna challeneg for the title in my opinion.

Cant see us paying £15m + Robinho for Ibra. Doesn't make sense paying £15m and a tosser in exchange for another tosser.

If Drogba came to City we would win the league, hence Chelsea won't sell him. He's worth 5 of Robinho.

So, we are linked with a few strikers but who is the one we are pinning our hopes on? Me personally, I'm not overly keen on Ibrahimavich and don't think Torres shows value for money, especially with the media frenzy and us bailing out the Scousers. That leaves Dzeko for me who I think will improve our front line no end. He doesn't seem to come with the big ego and he'll be fighting to prove he should be a starter in fron of the likes of Ade. Win/Win in my book.

There is some small grumbling out of New Jersey that the Red Bulls are trying to sign Vieira to go along with Henry. I think Henry is pretty much nailed on to be playing in Jersey come August but I think they will try to tempt Pires to come with him. Can't say that I would be too upset if Vieira went though, as he is (hopefully) going to be a glorified coach this season, plus playing in some cup games.

Aye, Dzeko for me too.

I don't think Torres will come and I fancy Dzeko over Ibrahimovic and Balotelli.

Tottenham on verge of £6m capture for Manchester City winger Craig Bellamy

Tottenham are closing in on a £6m deal for Manchester City winger Craig Bellamy.

Everton are also interested in the Welshman but are struggling to match Tottenham's offer.

Meanwhile, City boss Roberto Mancini has confirmed his desire to partner Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli with Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko.

The moves would cost a total of up to £60m, but Mancini said: 'If Inter sell Balotelli, we'll be there. In Dzeko, City have more than a 'simple' interest.'

This doesn't make sense to me, we buy him for £12m was it?? and after two top seasons for us we're gonna let him go for half of what we payed for him yeah right.

It's his age and the fact his knees could go at any time.

I'd never be shocked if it turned out to be true this.

I'd be sad if he left though thats for sure, he's been awesome for us.

It may be bollocks but there is a sense of inevitability about him leaving imo. I can't see him starting the season with us and Spurs seems as likely a destination as any.
