It seems to me like he's been a victim of active questioning, he hasnt slagged city off, he's just said he wants first team football, and so he should.

If Shay gets the Jersey then maybe it would be best for City if our next Keeper was getting regular first team football, it better than sat on his arse waiting for the next two years?

I honestly believe that although Shay is the better keeper at the moment he isnt hat much better that we should keep him in the team as I'd prefer to see Joe come in now so he can gain that bit extra gametime and gel in the side and be our rock at the back for the next decade.

Gotta say after his awesome year at brum last season i thought he'd be dead cert to be number 1.

However...

On this tour he has massively unimpressed me, i mean to my eyes he looks worse than before he left us for brum and add to that his constant whinging, he's really gone down in my estimations.

IMO Shay is by far the best GK in the squad, he might not be able to catch crosses but i don't want anyone else between the sticks atm.

Look at it from his point of view - David James is finished as England's number one following that move to Bristol City. Now is the time for the next generation England keeper to push for the spot and make it his own. Hart is more than capable but won't be looked at if he isn't playing regularly and someone like Ben Foster, who has taken the plunge and gone elsewhere, will overtake him.

He's a good age now with plenty of Premier League experience. He does not deserve to be a second choice keeper imo, it's just unfortunate that we have one of the best around in front of him.

For the sake of his own career he may have to go elsewhere, and I certainly wouldn't begrudge him for it.

Read the article and don't see the problem. He's trying hard to get in City's team but if he can't get in he can't afford to let someone jump in front of him in the England reckoning. Goalkeepers are different from other players in that there tends to be less rotation and a change of formation or tactics won't affect your chances of playing. Therefore, if he's not the No.1 then he needs to go somewhere, on loan, where he will be.

He was the solid starter for us before we got Shane and took
the loan to Birmingham City very well. It is wrong for us to
judge him for wanting more playing time based on his few off season
appearances. Find him a club and free up another roster spot....

And far as a backup goes: How about Brad Friedel, if he is available???

1. if people keep reacting to the spin that the press put on everything City we are in for a very stormy season.
2. there is no truth going to come out in the press, not one bit about City.

3. the lesson of last season is that we need quality back up.
4. why with all the games we will have to play do we need to have the idea of a no1?
5. both Hart and Given are good enough and wise enough to share it and work on improving their game.

6. ignore the press, they are on a wind up mission and will drive you insane if you let them.

7. if you happen to meet a reporter, punch him first then ask what he thinks of City.

Could he not go back out on loan, but with an agreement to be released back if something happened to Shay. If we paid his wages on loan then surely we could.

Kasper Schmeichel feels his bit-part role at Manchester City can help him secure the number one jersey at new club Leeds United.

The 23-year-old said he had 'hard time'" at City as he tried to establish himself as the Blues' first-choice goalkeeper but struggled following the signing of Joe Hart.

Schmeichel made just seven appearances, keeping four clean sheets, in his time at Eastlands so instead followed his former boss Sven-Goran Eriksson out of Manchester in favour of first-team opportunities with League Two side Notts County.

Having achieved the League Two title during his time in the Midlands, Schmeichel's crippling wages were too much for the Magpies to contend with and the young Dane decided to take up a free transfer offer to newly promoted Leeds United.

Following his cut-throat experience at the top, Schmeichel believes he can use it to his advantage to help his new club in their quest for Premier League status and emulate some of the success his father Peter enjoyed.

"I had some hard times at Manchester City and that gave me a lot of time to mature and reflect on what was going on in my career," he told The People.

Bad time

"It was horrible. It was a bad time, but I turned it into something positive. I had to.

"The manager decided on a change and that was his prerogative. All I could do was accept it, get on with it and make sure I pushed Joe Hart as hard as I could and supported him as well as I could for the team.

"I am not one to whinge and say 'it should have been me' or 'it should have been this way'.

"Joe is a good friend of mine and I think he has done brilliantly. I am very happy for him but from a personal point of view it made me realise I had to work even harder to get where I want to be.

"That is what I did - I pushed to get a move for a long time and when it did finally come about I was ready to play every week."

The League Two title winner also wants to push for the opportunity of turning his Danish Under-21 caps into full honours which he believes he can do with regular football at Elland Road.

"Every player wants to be playing at the highest level and I can definitely get back there with Leeds," he added.
