Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

City is delighted to announce the launch of City Square – a brand new pre-match entertainment zone designed with Blues fans squarely in mind.
The project will be the first of its kind at a Premier League club, and is sure to raise the crossbar for how football clubs embrace their supporters in the build up to home matches.
City Square will be a vibrant and state-of-the-art fan experience, located on Joe Mercer way outside the Citystore. In addition to being a place for families to congregate before matches, it will also provide fans with entertainment. Giant media screens will be streaming specially edited and live video content, while the Club’s community arm – CITC - will provide match day activities for children.
City Square will boast the Summerbee and Star bar which will be kitted out with the latest technology enabling multiple pints to be poured in seconds. The Blue Moon cafe will also be serving up a range of traditional northern favourites with a twist. All of which will be under the cover of a series of specially designed waterproof canopies, designed to keep the fun in and the famous Manchester weather out.
"The aim of City Square is to greatly
enhance the match day experience of
our supporters by providing them with
exceptional food, drink and
entertainment facilities within a family
friendly environment."
BDP Project Director John Doyle, the architects commissioned to design City Square, said: “City Square is all about extending the pre-match build-up and excitement outside of the stadium and onto the surrounding concourse to bring fans together in a fanzone specially designed for their entertainment. It's about meeting friends, having something to eat and drink and being entertained in a family friendly atmosphere on the club’s doorstep.”
As City Square has been flexibly designed, it will also be used for non-match day events to provide entertainment and hospitality for up to five thousand customers and will have direct links to the new Metrolink station which opens in 2012.
City Square will officially kick off at 5pm on 23rd August, before City’s first home match against Liverpool. Fans are invited to come on down and get the carnival atmosphere started in true City style.

Must be that much-vaunted matchday experience!

Took a few pictures today but can't upload them for some reason?
Anyway, it's nearly complete and the strangest thing I seen was some workers putting a Gold Leaf (not real Gold I think) layer onto the bar/shop type portacabins. If we still had Singha then I could understand it, but we've moved to Heineken now.
The Tram looks well underway as well and I'd say it won't be too long until they're putting the tracks in.

well apparently the SCUM want to do the same now...
OLD TRAFFORD Supporters Club Ltd has applied to Trafford Council to build a new facility for fans at Sir Matt Busby Way, Old Trafford.
If approved, the building will include bars, media facilities and a souveneir shop and will be housed on a piece of land facing Wharfside Way that previously housed industrial buildings.
A statement from Old Trafford Supporters Club, which is an official branch of Manchester United Ltd, said that the building would be used both on match and non-match days and would provide "strong community links".
It said further details would be released once planning has been approved.
Old Trafford Supporters Club was set up in 2005 and currently has around 100 members.

When I saw the white teepee type roofs yesterday I was hoping for something a bit like schalke, but after reading that and sitting in the "Wackey Warehouse Stand" yesterday I now doubt it.
