Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I have always thought city have been a small side; many teams with lots of sub 5ft 8s. it was at its peak of smallness under reid with heath, ward, phelan, etc.
i remember seeing city v sheffied wednesday in 1983, sheff weds went up iirc. they were enormous and we looked beaten from the off. and we were.
now, looking at city today, they are a team of monster giants; yaya, kompany, adebayor, all huge men, boateng and vieira too. a big good one is always better than a a small good one. i wonder if we might be able to defend crosses and corners now? now that would be a real plus and a huge change for us, seeing as it has been our achilles heel for many seasons now.
After the ball was centred, after the whistle blew...

That, my friend, would be a miracle, but a very welcome one at that

Ive been saying this for years, before there was any talk of yaya coming i said de jong was too small to dominate the middle of the park. I think mancini is trying to blend strength, power and little magicians and i just hope we gel because city look on paper one hell of a team.

Eh, Barca don't seem to do too badly.
You just need a mix.

I think size matters in different positions for instance, you want the back bone of your team to have some presence, for example, you dont want you centre half to be under 6 foot but in the sam instance, smaller fullbacks and wingers tend to be much better in that postion due to there numbleness and speed/lower centre of gravity turning quickly. I would always go for a big man and a smaller guy up front like we have with tevex and adebayor or whoever plays with him.
I think the general rule is that taller players like Komps,Toure, Boateng and Adebayor are alot more powerful, stronger and obviously good in the air. Where as smaller plays like tevez, johnson, SWP, Ireland,Silva,Bellamy are alot better at beating and getting past players aswell as quicker over 20 yards (which is important in football at the top level)and alot of the time just technically better with regard to skill and vision.
I think you need a good blend of the two which i think we have for sure now.
As for a good biggun is always better than a good littlun...
I struggle to find many better than these fellas in there positions over the last few seasons: Messi (5ft 7),Lahm (5ft 7), Iniesta (5ft 8/9), Xavi (5ft 9)and our very own Tevez (5ft 7)
Bring on Spurs :-)

Micah did most things right tonight and looks to have finally realised that he IS a player who can stay with us for a long time and be a part of the great things which are surely going to happen.
A slight critism is he still looks to tuck in a little too early going too narrow and depends on his wide man for cover.
This stems from the fact he's played both at RB and centre half and I would be digging up old ground to state he is one or the other.
To me he is a right back but just needs confirmation of that and master that position alone.
He seems to be buckling down and the spell of off field distractions in the past look to have taken a back seat from recent times.
I work down south through the week and Micah is held in high regard by the london supporters I've met and most would take him in a heartbeat.
If he can be a little more positionally aware and concentrate on the task in hand and be focused on the right back slot with no illusions of central defense he has the ability to make a go of things and become a regular pick.
Lots of other pluses tonight from the new boys but to see a player nearly written off make a bid for a new lease of life makes me think he's turning a corner!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy!
