Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!
by Beeks » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:52 am
Only a handful of days until Spurs and my nails are down to the stumps
Will we be ready?
What will be our starting 11?
Which City side are going to turn up...the sublime or the downright silly?
I can't help thinking that if we come out of it with a draw i'll be happy...anything less and the knives will be out for us and Twitchy will have his day in the sun
Just wish it was an easier fixture to ease ourselves into it and build confidence
Thoughts?

I was quite frankly gutted when I saw we got the yids away first game of the season but I've since come around to thinking that we'll crush them on their own manor and leave Arry The Spiv utterly dejected.

I'm really glad its spurs and scouse to start with, a few nice early tests to get the squad focused straight away then a nice easy month to prepare for Chelsea..

Its very cliched but you've got to play everyone twice, we might be undercooked but who's to say spuds aren't either? It'll be a great marker if we go down to dog shite lane and get something from this game, if we don't then we have 37 more games to go for it.
I'm fairly chilled about Saturday, having said that I'm at a wedding and will miss most of the game otherwise I might be more apprehensive!

If our boys have got anything about them then they will want to smash these fuckers after what happend at COMS in May. I can't see any better motivater than that. I would also say it's us Vs the world and we need to show the world that we mean buisness, what better place to start than the team that pipped us to that 4th spot.

Two teams we failed to beat last season as decent tests to help prepare for one we got 6 points off. Typical City.

I'm a bit scared we're going to get bummed by them. They finished alst season in great form, we looked static and a bit clueless. That's carried on into pre-season, although the Valencia game hopefully has given the playrs some confidence. I think Mancini will play for a draw though, which I never like (I hate it in fact) but might not be such a bad idea tbh.

would be happy with a draw against this lot. we never seem to do well against them, a draw would be a good result imo.

Yep, Spurs, Fulham and WBA are all teams we're shit against. Have a feeling it'll be 2-1 Spurs for the billionth time in living memory. Still happy to have proper football back though.

Same ere Dazza lad. Fuck being nervous about Spurs. I bet their fans are releived that they have us at home rather than at our place. They'll be more nervous than us. This is the season we win somat at last, i can guarantee it.

What's to be nervous about?
The worst that can happen is that we lose - I seem to remember that's happened to us before now ;-)

Really not optimistic for Spurs game. We nearly always lose against them, even when they were bottom of the lge 18 months ago, we managed to lose a 1 goal lead and lose 2-1 at Eastlands and have two players sent off that day.
If I was offered a draw, i would take it without hesitation.
Just hope Mancini is sensible and doesn't play Silva - the lad has just returned to training, will have been to Mexico for a friendly and Spurs away is not the place for him to make his first start. Play Bellamy with Johnson on the other wing, Tevez down the middle and De Jong, Yaya Toure and Barry in midfield.

I really don't think were prepared for the start of this season and theres too many players that seem uncontent to me. I'd settle for a draw now. I still think were going to get top 4 this season but I can see a few draws at the start while Mancini concentrates at shutting out goals at the back and tries to organise whos going to be going/staying and moulding the team into a unit that understands how its going to play effectively. Basically I'd see the first 3 or 4 games of the season as what our pre season should of been. This pre season has been a shambles IMO.

A draw at Spurs would be a good result for us and a bad one for them. However the press and some doom-mongers will probably have a field day.
