Morning Piers,
As a lifelong City fan of 27 years, I have found myself distressed time and time again with the comments of the media since the ADUG takeover, ranging from tabloids, to broadsheets, and even on live television.
Any article you have written since the takeover regarding City, I feel has been extremely fair and well balanced and I'll admit that before you caught my attention I never thought you were a man who knew his football. I was wrong. You seem to be the only Journo who will actually speak his mind about football, rather than just jumping on the latest bandwagon for whichever club is the trendiest right now.
What I wanted to point out to you is a common phrase for certain Journo's (mentioning no names Cough sunday supplement Cough) about City "Ruining Football" with their spending. One particular chap who seems to have a massive Anti-City agenda, Brian Woolnough, even pointed the finger at City for England's embarrasment at the World Cup. Here is his article;

Now I'm sure you watched England last night, and noticed that City had 6 players on the pitch at the end of the game. Hardly ruining English football is it? By the end of the game Jamie Redknap was pointing this fact out, as was the chap who was doing the aftermatch player and manager interviews. Slowly people are changing their tune towards us, especially after our demolition of Liverpool. The whole country are in love with Joe Hart and Adam Johnson. If anything it seems City are saving England's national team, not ruining it.
What I'm getting at Piers, is after the article about you dining with Dr Al Fahim, and your expectations of what City could become, City fans have taken a liking to you, and kind of see you as our voice in the media.
It would only be right if you were the one to stick it to the know nothing sheep who consistenly bad mouth a traditionally humble club, just because they won the lottery, or because they are not Manchester United, and point out to them what is plain to see. Manchester City FC are good for English football.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel Lewis
Manchester
PS, if you would like to speak to me for any more views on being a City fan, I'm contactable on 0*********9 and I am a regular poster on http://www.mancityfans.net feel free to have a look for some intelligent views and debates.
Nice one Danny, I really hope it gets the response it deserves. Piers seems well clued up in our situation, plus it would do him good personally to be on the side of the most successful side in footballing history from the beginning of their reign.
Piers seems to be one of the very few who have actually done their homework and give a sensible view rather than one to please the masses, also by giving City praise when deserved could be seen as controversial given the current climate, and we all know how the media love controversy.
Thats it mate, my line of thinking was that Piers likes to be controversial. He was the first to make a proper comment about us, and he should be the first to defend us.
I like him.
