Sandman, i see where you are coming from mate but this attitude does not sit well with me, and from the replies here i think many of the rest of us too. you can say i'm not looking at the big picture/have a small time mentality but the feeling is the same and paradoxically i don't think it will change until we begin to win stuff. bit of a catch 22.

people talk about getting the first trophy then others will follow: well we just chucked our best chance this season away on a huge gamble.

in a way this thread is pointless; might be worth revisiting later on in the season when our progress (or lack of it) in other competitions is more advanced. until then it just feels like we jacked it in out of arrogance.

I suppose we all live on ifs and buts, the trouble is we tried to go all out for everything last year and failed, and back then we didnt have European football to contend with, and we have a hard group. I just hope that we win the FA cup or finish 3rd in the league, then I am sure most will feel that last nights decision helped us a little along the way.

Notwithstanding the fact that I am (as noted elsewhere) not totally devastated about being out (I didn't enjoy going out mind you) I have to say that anyone who can claim to "love Mancini" to date needs their fucking head testing

I quite like him as a bloke, I'm happy to give him time to get it right but fuck me it's more about liking having a suave italian manager and a heavy dose of baseless optimism (oh....and the backing of the sheikh!) that is keeping me positive.

I was more than happy to see the likes of Boyata, Ibrahim and Guidetti out there last night but fuck me what was the silly italian cunt doing with the rest of the defence.

Javan Vidal??? Since when has he been anywhere close??? And Cunningham, why doesn't he go to join his mates at Villa....he's 100% not good enough. Mee......well unfortunately the same is probably true of him.

However, notwithstanding the potential lack of quality of any of the above three players....to field them all together against a fairly seasoned (PL) team, even a weakened one was poor management.

Last night Mancini failed us the fans, failed the club and he failed those young lads

Are you serious, how the fuck can you say something like that when we aint won fuck all for years

Because I am not desperate and pathetic enough to only crave a silver pot so that they have to take their banner down.

I would rather see the club improve more in the long run, I see the bigger picture and whats best for the club going forward.

You seem to be a bit of an arrogant fucker yourself if you think you can make assumptions as to what our reasoning is.
That banner bothers me yes ........ a bit.
The lack of a a trophy also bothers me ............. a lot.

And you seem like an angry little cunt who has thrown his toys out of the pram because of one little reserevs cup that means absolutely NOTHING in the grand scheme of citys amazing future.

I personally spent decades believing i'd never see City even reach a final, now I KNOW city will win the lot over the next 15 years, I was never under any illusions that we'd be successful again in my lifetime so now I am not being impatient and crying / spitting the dummy out over a little loss which is probably going to help the club in the long run

No we're not, we're looking at the bigger bicture, focusing on long term rather than shirt term glory. Chin up, I am feeling positive about last night, it may feel crap now but we are building and we have bigger fish to fry.

We will, I have absolutely no doubt of that. If we didnt then by that time Mancini will have had 18 months to sort it out and maybe it would be time to question him, but for now I am happy that the club have appointed Mancini to do the job, even though his methods may not be popular with some parties.

I think some people need to keep there chin up and have a bit of faith, lets face it us, Mancini, the owners and the players all want the same thing eventually.

we've won nothing and we're acting like its us and not United who've dominated the last 20 years of football. Some of our support is becoming like the rich kids who strolled into the football park thinking he's the man with his new predator boots not realising that he's only being a bench warmer and said boots wont turn him into Tevez.

For a club of our limited success to go around, running down trophies of any stature is a disgrace. As much money and all as we have, Middlesboro, yes that team of useless scots from the championship, Portsmouth (those poor broke guys) have had more success and those two poor indebted clubs Liverpool and United have had more loads more success in the last 10 years. Some people need to come down of their high horse (a high horse we have no business being on) and realise at the minute we AREN'T a huge club, certainly not in the same stratosphere as the Rags, Chelsea or even Liverpool. Trophies make big clubs, no ones gonna care who finished 4th in 2010-11 in 50 years time, but the name of whoever wins the carling cup will always be on the trophy.

It's pretty clear to me that NO-ONE is right OR wrong for that matter. To some of us, the thought of a Trophy - ANY Trophy is quite high on the agenda. Some uf us, think top 4 or higher in the league is better than winning the Carling Cup Trophy.

IMO I'd rather see us in the Champs league next season, if that means we have to forfeit the CC then so be it. We are still in the FA, and EUFA cups, again I'd much rather us forfeit the CC to have a chance of winning one of those instead!

I can however see the other side of the coin, that we havent won a trophy for 30+ years and it's about time we changed that, and the sooner the better. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see us lift a trophy or two this season, not forgetting that a trip or two to Wembly would be ace. But it just seems that some of us want different things.... and what's wrong with that.

The over reactions from some people last night in the match thread when there was still 30 minutes to go however, was, in my eyes, utter disgraceful and knee-jerk if I have ever seen such a reaction.

If we had won last night with a strong team but had injuries and tired players for saturday and we go and get spanked, I wonder how many of those who are pissed off now, would have been just as pissed off citing that we should have fielded a weaker team. If we had won last night, none of us would give a flying fuck about his selection, but hindsight is a wonder wonderful thing. And yes, if we still get beat on saturday then I'm sure we will look like a right bunch of twats, but what if we win, will his decision be justified or will we still be squabbling about it?

It's happened, we are out of that cup for another season, but lets look forward, lets just move on from it FFS.

Got to agree.

We treat League Cup like we have bigger fish to fry when in reality this and UEFA Cup are/were our only realistic chances of winning things.

I understand all the money blah blah blah arguments but I would've taken League Cup over top 4 finish any day of the week.

Thats just fucking stupid, we need 4th this season more than anything else. if it meant getting knocked out in the 1st round of every cup comp this year but finishing 4th, i would gladly take it. We need to attract top class players ASAP and i dont think winning the league cup is going to do that.

Although i do think Mancini is a c**t and should have treated the game last night with more respect and still be clear that we are concentrating on the league

"We need to attract top class players"??????????

What the fuck????

Our squad is FILLED with top class players.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Everyone is reading way too much into this, but after a disappointing defeat that is not surprising.

TBH, just look at the circumstances. Three 1st team defenders fit.. needed for Sat at 12.45. So in go a whole back line of kids with only Boyata as one whos any good at present development. We lost the game cos those defenders switched off at the wrong time and the late subs couldn't rescue the game. end of.

Now how that gets turned into a massive debate about glory hunters, arrogance, manager out etc etc etc... is beyond me.

Just to back up the point again.. If we had Wolves at home on Sat afternoon or evening, then Bob could have played Vinnie and/or deJong and Albion wouldn't have had even a sniff in the whole 90 mins.

Im not picking this out for any other reason than it has been stated a lot in various ways, but you put it very clearly NQDP. My question is very simple for those that think similarly...

Do you think that the Club, Manager and Players think like this ? ( CC over top 4 )

I dont see that as being arrogant, I see that as being strangely realistic, I wouldnt ever say the above to a none blue as they would see it as arrogant, I am just unbelievably positive about the club at the moment and I trust our owners/managers will do the job they set out to.

And another thing, you call me arrogant for supporting our manager and our club, I am getting behind him while you are criticising. When you say what the fuck has happened to our fans, what the fuck has happenned to you, do you really think that we can put our first team out for 70 matches in 60 weeks and still be successful? We are not at that level yet, but at least Mancini is doing something about it, he is prioritising and giving the club the best chance of progressing.

Its you who have changed not me, I am behind the club.
