Tackling is a part of the game. When did that change??
I heard this and it was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!!! He said "it's time to ban tough tackling midfielders", "in this day and age we should be able to put out a team to just play the beautiful game".
It would end up like a game of basketball if that happened, 25 lovely passes and a goal, then down the other end, 15 fancy flicks and another goal. For every fancy dan player you need someone to stop them playing it's the basics of football.

De Jong is double hard. Makes keane look like the scruffy little tinker he was.
Are you deliberately trying to give everyone the impression that you're a wanker?
Anyway, back in the world of normal human beings; it's an awful shame what's happened to the lad but having seen it again, if they 'do' DeJong for that, they'd better give Paul Scholes & about 50 other people a retrospective 20 game ban each. I asked two full scale rags about it before I'd seen the replay & neither thought there was even a question of a problem with the challenge.
Do you think i give a shit what you think? Go suck some PC dick somewhere and don't quote me if you dont like what i say. I enjoyed watching the replay over and over. Do i give a shit about the guy? NO. end off.
Ps. Your a wanker

On the plus side he gets a nice two rest so will be ready when we go to Blackpool on the 17th, good stuff.

i hope Nige gives them the middle finger from now on,..Holland would not have made it so far in the WC without him and i now hope they fuck up at every opportunity......i cannot believe they have watched footage of the challenge and based their decision on that...they are handling straight from what the media has spouted, utter cunts and i hope van Marwijk dies along with his oh so gently and graciously tackling son-in-law van Bummelcunt son of a whore.

I honestly can't believe that they would drop a very "in form" Nigel de Jong because of yesterday
If they do....its silly
If they do and still call up Mark "GBH" Van Bommel then it's just a farce

The question is how ridiculous is it really...? Even though the tackle yesterday was fair (especially with city-glasses on...), the majority is slaughtering deJong today. He has built up a repurtation as a hard (and brutal?) player, and the clumpsy attack at Alonso in the WC-final was seen by everyone, since it was a wc-final... DeJong will probably be in focus by the refs for a period, and from that perspective I can understand the dutch coach. Nigel is getting a repurtation now that is not only for good, neighter for him as a player of for his team.
petrov wrote:yet again with blinkers on everyone but City fans are wrong. I made my feeling on DeJong clear at the WC. Great player and a tough tackler when he doesn't bend the rules. I gave him the benefit yesterday, watching the replays i'm not so sure. Right to be dropped, he has to learn you can't just go around breaking people up, this is football not UFC.

it's fucking ridiculous as the manager has continued to pick Van Bommel who assaulted his way through the whole World Cup.....Nigel did one rather ludicrous kung fu kick granted but MVB was a fucking animal in every game I saw the Netherlands play.
If I were Nigel I'd tell Holland where to go after that. By all means take him aside for a talking to when he joins up with the squad and tell him you're not impressed and so he's not going to play. But to be hung out to dry like that by your national coach when the incident wasn't even playing for the international team. An absolute disgrace.
Nigel has been to the WC Final with Holland now, they'll not match that again in his career so he might as well tell them where to go and concentrate on his club career where he is appreciated
