It would end up like a game of basketball if that happened, 25 lovely passes and a goal, then down the other end, 15 fancy flicks and another goal. For every fancy dan player you need someone to stop them playing it's the basics of football.

I had it on all the way down the M6. The woman beater just had an agenda going. He just kept going on about it being malicious, high (which it certainly wasn't) he said on a few occasions the DJ didn't play (and didn't attempt to play) the ball, and kept on dramatising the whole thing constantly saying he "snapped" his leg. This was interspersed with constant our penno that should never have been given and their stonewall that wasn't given. To bo honest, there was less malice in De Jong's tackle than those committed by Tiote (on Milner and De Jong) and Coloccini (on Tevez).

If it wasn't such a bad injury, no-one would have discussed the foul. Best of luck to Ben Arfa but just because there is a victim, it doesn't necessarily mean that there is a villain.

Van Bommel is the managers son-in-law or something like that so is unlikely to be dropped but I agree that VB is a snide bastard which De Jong isn't. Trouble for De Jong is that its been raised before that he gets too many cards playing for Holland because he goes in hard every time and the latest incident is just added to the list. Plus if he was picked you just know that the Ref will be watching and waiting for the first slip so De Jong is just a card waiting to happen.

Its a shame because De Jong has gone up a level or two this year but I reckon he will have to rethink some of his tackling without compromising his effectiveness otherwise Ref's will be all over him.
