Sounds like another commanding performance, congrats and well done, sorry to hear about the injury time lapse.

There must be quiet a lot of talk now about City Ladies in the womens league circles
7 wins out of 7 and 7 pts clear with a game in hand.

What is the difference from last season? and do you think the team is as good as, or better, than Liverpool were last season?
Conceding so few goals has got to be part of the reason for the success so far... no?

Neighbour nuisance and the destruction of our once wonderful back garden lead to Heather packing them off to a farm. I wasn’t happy as I am not the type of person who gets a pet and then gets rid of it once it becomes a pain but they technically were not mine so I didn’t have a say

There is a lot of talk within our own camp but that’s around people keeping there feet on the ground and taking one game at a time. We have spoken about how much winning breeds confidence and the will to win becoming bigger and bigger with each game. I imagine outside of the club people will think we have won it already but I can assure you that is not a thought that has passed in any of our heads. We just look to keep high standards and keep on winning.

Lat season was a bitty season where we didn’t end up playing for a 12 week period due to the weather and the enjoyment just wasn’t there for many of us. We just wanted the season over. This season we have had a better start with our pre-season prep and have been giving training facilities that allow us to train Tue/Thur from 7.30pm-9pm instead of Wed/Fri 8pm-10pm. This frees us up to have a bit of a life outside of football not that any of us go mad on a Friday. The clubs input also cant be underestimated as we know look like a more professional outfit with full training kit and our wonderful new home.

We actually lost two key players in the summer our main CB and our CM which was a huge loss but the girls that have come in have been first class, a couple of young kids that play with no fear and are not bothered about who they are up against. I wouldn’t say we are better than Liverpool were last season but I think we would give them a run for their money. We don’t let goals in as we work hard all over the pitch plus we have the best keeper in the league in goal........:-)

Great stuff Ms Fu, sounds like you have got the right attitude within the group.. one game at a time, keeping feet well in the soggy mud and working hard. Long may it continue that way.
Interesting the psychology you hint at with the clubs support with the pitch and the kit and giving that feeling it is all more pro.. can you say that has had an effect of something to live up to? How does that work?

I took my place with the coaching staff this weekend. We gave the 2nd choice keeper a game as she will be playing for the 1st team when im away.

They keep trying to get me on the coaching staff for when I retire but its not really my thing. I did the keeper warm up yesterday and thats about as far as my coaching skills go.

Sorry missed this just seen it now....

For me personally I am driven by the will not to let anyone down like some of the people on here I know that have been down to watch or follow us via the reports. I know that the focus has now shifted onto us like never before and we are aware of this and aim to make people proud of their women’s team.

We know feel part of the club which I think is essential and we all feel much better for this in particular me and the two other blues that play. Looking the part goes along way and we now look the part with matching tracksuits and training kit. We no longer look like a bunch of rag arse rovers like we did last season.

Well, it wasn’t the best to honest and a break of 7 weeks without playing and hardly training had an affect. I am still unable to play due to ankle ligament damage and did not particularly like sitting on the sidelines yesterday. It could be a blessing though as we are desperate to win the league and this now gives us a clear run at it. In with the physio’s this week so fingers crossed they can get my ankle working this week. I would say 50/50 at best!!

In an exciting second round tie, City’s Ladies fell victim to a classic FA Cup giant-killing act as they were beaten 3-2 by an impressive Mossley Hill.
Despite playing two divisions below the Blues, the visitors put in a battling performance and having levelled the tie in the 89th minute, went on to win the game in extra-time.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides but it was Mossley Hill who broke the deadlock with a 12th minute opener. An uncharacteristic mix-up in City’s backline left both defence and goalkeeper stranded and allowed Sophie Perry to tap in from close range.

A goal behind, City continued to pile on the pressure, only to be denied by an excellent goalkeeping display from Mossley stopper Davis.

The Blues went in a goal down at half-time but City’s pressure was finally rewarded in the second half when Levi Wensley cut in from the right to shoot past Davis in the 67th minute.

After goal-scorer Wensley had a good chance to put the blues ahead saved by Davis, Becky Grocott found a way past the Mossley ’keeper in the 81st minute and had seemed to have won the tie for the Blues.

Both sides pressed to score the next all-important goal and it came courtesy of a fortunate strike from Mossley’s Carla Lee. Having looked to cross the ball for her strikers, Lee’s hopeful ball in the 89th minute looped over the City goalie and found its way into the top corner of the goal to take the game into extra-time.

Tiredness began to affect both sides and when Stacey Jo Kelly’s long ball over the top was met by Sophie Perry in the 95th minute, Mossley’s comeback was complete. City fought hard to find an elusive equaliser but it never came and the Blues were beaten 3-2.

City manager Leigh Wood admitted after the game that he had hoped for a good run in the Cup but paid tribute to City’s excellent opponents: “Credit to Mossley Hill. Today they put their bodies on the line and their never-say-die attitude towards the end of the game got them the win. It was very disappointing the way we defended today, and we should have dealt with the long ball. We'll learn from this and bounce back against Newcastle next week.”

jesus h. christ woman....get some fucking injections and get on the pitch. it's been forever...maybe you need a good dose of some placenta on that ankle? Think about it.

"backline" problems...don't happen when the Ladies No 1 isn't sitting on the bench. Just sayin.

Yr like a couple weeks away from a new nickname -- Andie Santa Cruz...that's right. i said it. ASC.

wobble, etc.

I would have a injection if offered but we just about have plasters in our medical bag so its unlikely.

There were a few communication problems yesterday which dont usual happen but that's cause I've got a big gob. Fingers crossed I can be back on Sunday.

You do deserve an injection.

Also, big gobs are a plus.

Hope you play Sunday...you need to keep this league thingy on track lady.

Back to league action today and we have just made it 8 wins out of 8 and sit very pretty like our male counter parts at the top of the league. We are currently 10pts clear. We made hard work of it today being 2-0 up on 46min only to be pegged back to 2-2 by 50 mins.

Danbo the maken popped one in late in the game which caused mad scenes in our dug out with me doing my best to take out the management team with a run and leap. Still out injured with no idea of a time span as it's not responding to treatment at the moment. Anyway it's fooking great being a blue at the moment. Good times all around!!

Cheers

Brilliant!, great news to hear that its back to winning ways after such a long break, and even without you! Must be a great feeling for the girls to be continuing the momentum of last year. No wonder you went crazy celebrating, that was an important psychological win at this stage. Congratulations Fu.

It was good 3pts today and you could tell how much it meant by the celerbrations. I would say the league is ours to loose as other teams keep taking points off one another. We have got some tough fixtures coming up and if we can get through them who knows.

Frustrated with my ankle at the minute as its not getting better. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
