I'm so happy that this has now been addressed and that we now carry a real threat. Think it's four goals from corners which I think is more than the whole of last season and the last. Need to give Hughes some credit for this as we were bloody useless last season. All we need now is someone to be our free kick specialist..???!!

It was commented on last night. When was the last time we scored from two corners in the same game?
Mind you the keeper made the first one a bit easy.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

Agreed.
That's two major problems that look to have been addressed. Away form and set piece attacking.
Set piece defending however....

Well you can't have it all can you?
No, seriously I reckon that will get better as well in time as the team has played more as a unit.

It's fantastic that something which has been making me tear my hair out for years has finally been sorted. Almost all of the Sky 4 regularly get their opening or equalising goal from set pieces.
Defending them will get better but it's close to impossible if you have 6 dwarves in the team. Adebayor/RSC/Vinnie will be important over the season in that respect. Who's going to get us goals from free kicks though? RSC can hit a decent one as can Bellamy & Tevez but they're hardly Ronaldinho are they? Weiss perhaps?

What were Bellamy's corners like last night? I still dont get why we are letting him take them (and indirect freekicks too) rather than Barry - but then again I dont know what he does in training every week. Having said that - given that Barry just scored a header from Bellamy, maybe they want Barry's height as a threat.

I complained about us not being able to score from set pieces to no end last season and glad we got it sorted. Just can't believe he got the change done so fast though its amazing how much we have changed since the last game of last season..

i wonder if barry will go back to taking them once we get adebayor back - with a 6'3" striker we may not need barry's size in the box

It's one thing telling players what to do at set pieces, it's another having players who can actually do it. Lescott really disrupts the concentration of defences imo. It's no coincedence we've started scoring from corners regularly since he signed. The good thing is, others will learn from him.

really happy about the fact we look a threat from set pieces now.
agree with comment above about lescott, having his and captain kolo's prescence in the box for corners is really helping the threat we pose from them.
and once ade is back will be even more of a threat.....good times.

I think if the quality of the ball is not half decent then the keeper does not make that error. I glad we stopped the lets hit the first man game we seemed to play last season.

I think you have that right Ted. But at least it's something I don't have to mention to Bowen anymore ;)
