Papers in Italy consider the Robinho to Milan deal almost done, only the signature is missing, with Huntelaar having accepted to go to Schalke 04 and Borriello headed out, Juventus or Roma his possible destinations, although he's rumoured to have refused Juve to play CL footy with Roma, although they still have to find an agreement on his wages (he wants 4m euro per year, Roma offers 3.2m or so it is rumoured).

Taken from the Beeb's live deadline day update thingie (with a touch of sarcasm, but never mind):

1700: When it rains, it pours - another big name leaving Manchester City. Midfielder Adam Clayton has completed his permanent move to Leeds.

Also confirming Robi:

1656: AC Milan have clinched the permanent signing of Manchester City forward Robinho, who was of course involved in one of the great deadline day deals when he joined City in 2008

good for Adam - don't think he was going to have much of a shot here to break into the midfield, although he always said the right things about fighting for his place

from an italian website usually not so crap and well informed:
http://www.datasport.it/news/2010/dicem ... e-qui.html

free broken lost in traslation:

Wolfsburg: "Dzeko will not be moving from here, in January"

General Manager of the German club warrants that the player will not be sold in the winter session of the market.

Wolfsburg's GM, Dieter Hoeness, notifies all European clubs, Edin Dzeko not moving. "It is useless they waste time, we will not give our player in the next January market window," said Hoeness, freezing so the Clubs that would immediately ensure the performance of the attacker Bosnian.
The 24 year old Dzeko is, according to Spanish press, at the top of reinforcements by Mourinho to Real Madrid, especially in light of the physical problems of Gonzalo Higuain. But Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern are ready to be all in for the player, but he is under contract with Wolfsburg and therefore can not freely decide his own future.

Dzeko scored 26 and 22 goals in his last two seasons, ewsulting essential to winning the Bundesliga title in 2009 by Wolfsburg. This year he has done, always in the championship, 9 goals in 14 games played. Dzeko, promoted to captain by coach Steve McClaren, would like to leave Wolfsburg, and possibly realize the dream of going to Milan, whose team is rooting for him since childhood, but is ready to consider alternatives. The Wolfsburg promised that he would let him leave in the summer of next year.

Should Barry being watching, may I have a vote on that, Prof?

You can never be sure about these reports of course but everything coming out of Wolfsburg, both from the club & from the player, seems to suggest he's not moving til summer. If we need another striker for this season, it's very unlikely to be Dzeko. We have to get this right.

If we fall out with Ade but can't replace him, an injury to Tevez could cost us everything & we could end up in May with no top 4, no trophies & no more Bob. If we can't guarantee a new signing, we have to get the best out of Ade, he could be crucial to our season.

in my opinion, we have to hold out for Dzeko, if thats in the summer then so be it.
We've still got Jo, Roque and Ade on the books, Guidetti apparently has the talent if we're really pushed to at least get a game
I honestly think we'll struggle to sell both Roque and Ade in the january window anyway as a lot of clubs will have a sell to buy policy as usual during the transfer window

I fancy we'll have another go for Torres. I think he's always been the player we would choose if we could get him & much as I hate the diving fish faced twat, when on form he's twice the player Dzeko is imo. That form will come back IF he stays fit.

Dont forget we can be in for two strikers in Jan without upsetting anything. RSC and Ade.
Im expecting that we have long term targets of the best out there and a number of up and coming..
If the long term are not accessible then i would expect a stop gap signing.. someone near the end of their career maybe.
Lets face it practically anyone is better than RSC and almost practically anyone is better than having Adebayor.

I'm going for two surprises, one young, one old.

I'm with Wooders.
I'd hold untill summer.
I see Ted's point - obviously - but I am very positive about what we will see on saturday in London, out of AJ and DS assisting Balo. Adam seems to have taken his head down and pushing in the right direction. Imo, Balo will open up spaces for deep cutting of both of them.
You told it Saturday, Ted: Balo has a natural attitude for right moving.

Then, Ade is a bit of a lazy bitch, but defo not a cretin: I reckon, even we cannot trust to base the season on him, we will be positively surprised by the Guy. It's his own interest at stakes...

I've got big hopes for Balotelli but he's just a kid & however good he is, it's a bit dangerous to rely on a kid to produce the goods for us in 3 competitions if Tevez was to get injured. It's a lot to ask of a young lad especially one who is a mental case!

I agree with BBS that we could possibly go for a veteran or another young striker in January if we can't get our main targets.

I agree with all the good sense spread all round.
I was and still am cautious on Balotelli because of his peculiar character, even taken by his neighborhoods in Italy: perhaps is stay within the English more concrete and sober envirenment, far from all the twats he had around in Italy might help him a great deal.
That said my point is:

we already have loads of talent to be refined and gelled
the backbone of a Top SIde had been already acquired

since now I'd prefer to look at top but young talent more than 26-27 yo.
City is in no rush to win today or no more, the more solid will be the basement set up, the greater and long lasting will be the reward
