By that logic we should also be signing the likes of Richie Wellens from Leicester who makes them tick and recently caused havoc when playing a top four prem side! Also why not put a bid in for Neil Kilkenny, last time i saw him at Leeds, he is a classy creative midfielder who I believe has Prem experience with Birmingham City.

Also why wouldn't Taggart like Adam? Holloway bends over backwards every week to praise the knight of the realm and maybe it's just me but could a jock be promoting a jock with a bit of talent (a rare thing at the moment)? Especially a jock who is also an ex-Ranger!

Adam struggled to get in the Ranger's first team in scotland and was pretty good in a sh*te league. Was good in the Championship against some distinctly average sides. I wasn't convinced by him when he played at City being unable to dominate a centre midfield against an extremely slow Vieira! Before buying a second look is definately needed, our back-up needs to be able to go up against the cream of Europe and dominate them, after all Silva could be injured or suspended at any time.

If you'd seen Charlie trolling about on the wing for Rangers a few years ago, you'd be stunned at how much he's evolved as a player.

Good passer, great vision and though absolutely one paced, he has proved he can play at this level for a mid-range team as he's got a decent eye for goal and is a good dead ball man. However, I'd want to see him turn it on for much longer at this level before I'd start touting him for one of the top 6 teams.

Incorrect. He showed nothing at Rangers or in the SPL. He only cost 150K and it seemed a good bit of business for Rangers at the time. I would never have imagined we are talking about a bidding war involving millions of pound for him a few years ago.

He had only managed to win 6 caps for Scotland.

Seeing as just about everybody in this thread is good enough to play for Scotland, the fact that he has only played 6 times for them doesn't bode well.

To be fair about Charlie Adam, while he struggled to get regularly in the Rangers first team, that had little to do with effort rather than application. He simply did not work hard enough.
Europe seemed to bring the best out of him and it is worth noting that he has scored a few times in both the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League for Rangers. His exit from Rangers was more a consequence of financial tightening at the club and the mass culling of players not regularly starting for the first team. While 500,000 may not sound like a lot in Premiership standards, it is a fair amount of money in the SPL. Rangers have already accepted a 700,000 pound bid from Birmingham City for Kenny Miller despite his 21 goals this season so far. (And that he is out of contract at the end of the season.)

He may not be world class, but that same judgment could be levelled at any number of transfers just shy of 20 million pounds. He can be an effective player in a good system and Ian Holloway has brought the best out of him. Try to make him into a hard-grafting central midfielder or winger and watch him slide...

At that money id take a punt as i mentioned in a thread a few days ago.

Can anyone name a better available playmaker that will happy to be 2nd choice and push hard for a 1st team place around? im open to suggestions, whats clear though is this is our next imoportant position to fill in the team. We dont need more widemen or fullbacks or even strikers, we need a back up center midfielder/playmaker.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't always agree with Mad Dog Holloway but I reckon it is just a matter of time before one of the top clubs takes a punt on him. I dunno if he would ever get a game at city but he has had an awesome season. He is the heart and soul of Blackpool this season and they must be shitting bricks about him leaving.

I suppose the problem is that you would have to set up in a similar way to Blackpool to get the best out of him. With the patient passing game that Mancini is developing, Adam might not fit at City but I could imagine him spraying balls to Johnson and Silva if a more expansive game were needed.

He will either be a one season wonder or someone will get a bargain!

I wouldn't take international caps as a serious judgement of players, if you did then Neil Young wasn't very good as he never won a cap for England despite being in the top scorers list for us when we were winning everything.

Somehow i think if Charlie Adam wasn't a front tooth missing, stocky scotsman and had David Silva type locks, normal teeth and was named Charlios Adamski then he would be getting credits for the wonderful football he is. He is a wonderful footballer and Blackpool would of been in serious trouble without him. I'd definatley have him in our side, he would be the second best passer at the club behind Silva.

He's a lovely touch player, like a throwback to the seventies but on the same theme; he looks like he smokes 60 fags a day & likes a pint. He'd have to get much fitter in order to play for us.

Not really. He's just saying what we all know: Adam is by fair their best player.

Say what you want but a bid of £2.5m is completely laughable.

For a club the size of VIlla bidding 2.5 for him when they clearly think he'll be a useful addition to the team is pathetic really.

Anyone heard owt on the grapevine re why Bent went to Villa btw?

there could be a good deal in this for b/pool , to take the money on offer + superman , who would surely re-gain his mojo and a full head of hair (see- red rum) playing with the fresh sea air in his follicles. i only see a win/win for holloway if he plays his cards right.
ps- i would love to see them pink wheelspins up and down the prom and he could also release them fish!

Didn't Lerner get all upset at City for putting in multiple bids for Milner?

What bid is he on now for Adam, number 3?

Yeah of course, I know hes probs worth more than £2.5m! I to be honest think DJ Campbell or that Taylor-Fletcher are in with a shout of being there best player this season. Adam has faded off a little.

You joke I hope?

As for Ireland one of his Villa problems is that he refused to move, much to M Hulot's disgust, and I'm sure that's down to his wall to wall fish tank. So if he went to Blackpool everything would be rosy!
