Although Neil knew the end was coming he was doing better after his stay in hospital last month, so it seemed he'd have a bit of extra time. But it's a bugger, cancer, it does what it wants when it wants. I saw Neil Young at his best and chanced to meet him years later when he was not so good. He died loved by Carmen most of all, she was the best happiness he had. Rest in Peace.
And City, try to look after Carmen now because you didn't do right by Neil.

R.I.P. Neil.

Have to praise the club as well for the efforts they've gone to over the past few months.

I'm another who's far too young to have ever seen him play but it's obvious he was one of the greats.

A true City Legend has passed,RIP Youngie........I first saw him play in 1964 pre Mercer/Allison era and he was a decent left sided player with a cracking left foot,Joe and Mal brought out the great player that was inside,Neil will be remembered for the important goals; 1968 vNewcastle to clinch the title,1969 FA Cup winning goal V Leicester and also the opening goal in the ECWC Final V Gornik Zabreze.Yes there was Lee,Bell and Summerbee but there was also just as importantly players along side of them like Youngie.
I am City til I die,
I am City til I die,
I know I am,I'm sure I am,
I am City til I die.

RIP.

Very sad news indeed.

Very Sad

Another "local lad" living the dream.

I get fed up with all the hype surrounding the modern footballer, money this and money that.

Neil played the game with enjoyment and most of all with City in mind.

It is what our club is built on and we should never forget.

RIP a True Blue.

On the flip side, you have to criticise the previous regimes who offered Neil no support beyond the end of his playing career. There is no "duty" that the club had, but no testimonial in that era when they were the norm, despite playing over 400 games and being one of the most decorated players in our clubs history is a total disgrace.

Like you said though, kudos for the way the current management have supported him towards the end.
