Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Think he's been good the last few games... let's hope he can keep it up:-) Seems many defenders have learnt alot from Mancini and taken another step up towards world class. Zab looking great, Micah back to old form, Lescott looking safe.
What do you guys think about his performance as of late?

Last couple for certain. If he keeps it up I can see him replacing Toure, which would allow Kompany to shift to the right of centre so he is on his preferred foot.

Lescott's played alright most of the time he's been at the club. It's just a matter of how people decide they're going to evaluate him. He was the main whipping boy, but now Balotelli's fit he may get a rest.

lescott does well, superman does good. read a book.
(this is a reference to a tv show that none of you will get)
on topic, I agree that he has done well. I've been pleasantly surprised. I believe he suffered a lot from the inflated transfer fee that hughes agreed to ... as well as a knee injury right after? or before? his transfer ... I can't remember. He's come to terms with the transfer and hopefully he can push on and do well.

I'm with you Ted. Twice last season he got injured just when he had stated playing well. I've no quite understood why he has taken such flak. Lescott/Vincent is still the partnership a feel happiest with.

Lescott for me is a steady player. His power and decent positional sense make up formhis lack of pace and complete awkwardness on the ball.
However Kolo had revelry been a bit of a liability do I'm glad he's being given a chance. I think the longer he plays first teamfootball for us the better he will get.
When compared to a player like Kompany though (perhaps unfairly) his limitations are all too plain to see.
Keep going Jolean.

Agree 100%, he just got going after injury last season and then got injured again. Seems to be a good reader of the game , his positional play is v good.

He also looked very good last time he partnered Kompany for a decent run of games - before Toure came back.
He's a very good centre half, but like all defences, they have to play regularly to form a solid partnership.
Its great having such good defensive cover. Long may it continue.

Spot on...have no idea where the haters (And there have been a few on here) have got their ammunition from with regards to Lescott...he has been consistant but not spectacular for awhile...and now he is getting a little run he is getting better with each game
Like you said Ruxpin...some people just need a target

He had been utter crap, he was criticised for it, now he is playing better and getting recognition.
He was failing at the basic fundamentals of being a defender in some games, how the hell did you manage to miss that?
This is why we should bring back IBH.

i agree with slim ... let's not pretend like lescott didn't have his rough patches. When they were rough, they were really rough. He's working hard and hopefully has turned a corner. So let's give him some support going forward and he might become a good, consistent player for us.

Lescott is a good player but does need another very good CH to help him out.
He is better than Toure and in time could make an excellent pairing with VK.
Do not right off Boateng who I think has the ability to be a fantastic CH.

He started out very poor. Now he's playing better. Simple.

Lescott made some bad mistakes, as did Toure & so has Vinny & all the other defenders. Toure makes at least as many & imo many more mistakes than Lescott. He always has, but for some reason people chose to ignore them & pick holes in Lescott's part of what was usually communal shite defending involving several players. He has been slaughtered for looking a bit clumsy whilst mainly doing a job, no worse than anyone else. Our best defensive spell under Hughes was when Lescott was fully fit. He will make more mistakes but so will the others. Be interesting to see whether he gets the treatment when his next mistake happens or if he gets the same leeway Vinny gets when he drops a bollock.

it's simple - he plays better because he's getting used to the team, know them better.
experience is the word. he's just a proof it always takes time to adjust. he's decent premiership defender, able to make a squad place in a top team like ours. not an obvoius choice in every game but capable when called into action.
obvious limitations are being currently overlapped by time spent on actual playing. good for him.
