The Chelsea v Rags Quandry

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Chelsea v Rags Quandry

Postby Original Dub » Sat Feb 26, 2011 10:29 pm

Feedthegoat came up with this in another thread.

Do we keep hoping United drop points against the likes of Chelsea even if it means we are risking our own top four finish?

I mean, I was all for a Chelsea win, but at what cost to us?

Love City, hate Utd.

Top 4 finish has to be a priority.

It would be better for us if the rags win to cement our hold in the top 4

I won't go as far to say I'd be happy if they won but it wouldn't be the end of the world

A draw will be perfect.

They're gonna win the leauge either way.

As long as everyone below us keeps losing it'll benefit us in the long run.

To be honest I'm not sure why people seem to think it's a foregone conclusion the rags are going to win the league.

In our own situation, if we win tomorrrow and the rags lose, we're 5 points behind with them having a game in hand (against chelsea again).

But apart from us, they're only 1 point in front of Arsenal and have that game in hand. The rags are getting results but they aren't playing fantastic football, and I think you can only get away with it for so long.

I'd take a draw tomorrow with Chelsea and the rags. With many injuries.

Bollocks, I was looking at an outdated table.

Anyway, as I'm now looking at the current table, they're 4 points ahead of Arsenal with no game in hand, and 8 in front of us if we win tomorrow and they lose. I still don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

Hope they beat Chelsea - because it suits us. Hope Liverpool beat them - because I'd laugh. But, big but, we need to beat Fulham and Wigan - because points in the board puts pressure on the rest.

hate them both, but a win for Chelsea would really boost their failing season, and the rags would just take it. A win for the rags and again Chelsea will be in turmoil and will have a negative effect. Only one result, i feel will have a fallout, and the way I look at it will be a loss for Chelsea, rather than a win for the rags, if that makes sense?

How about a pitch invasion by both sets and docked points with news of the world pics of taggart boning lampards missus at half time?

Yes please.

Hoping for draw today, otherwise, agree with all of this. Win today especially important with Chelsea and Spurs not playing this weekend.

We should be positive enough to think we can win plenty enough to stay well clear of Chelsea. So a Scum defeat it has to be. And at the Dippers. That would put a whole new aspect on the league.

Bit disappointed to see another of Taggart's dining pals rolled over for him yesterday.

Chelsea are only 4 points behind us having played a game less. They also have a strong squad who if they get their confidence back could go on a really good run. The worst result possible for us is a Chelsea win that kick starts their season. I would prefer the scum win and we get come clear space between us.
