The Chelsea v Rags Quandry

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I can't take any pleasure in the Rags getting stuffed. I'm fucking worried about fourth place.

He could possibly have played left back tbf, it's doubtful he could defend worse than Kolarov.

It amazes me the way people go over the top sometimes with new players though. He gave away a pen last time I saw him, almost gave away 2, really really awful defending & tonight, he ambled accross leaving a gap as Rooney smacked the ball in the net, was left tackling fresh air a few mins earlier as Rooney skipped away from him & rags should have scored & he should have been sent off later.

Great finish but all people notice is his attacking performance because he got away with the other stuff. He hasn't played against a proper big, tough centre forward yet either.

How people can say they'll be damned if they want a united win when it benefits manchester city at a crucial point in the season is absolutely beyond me. Who ARE these people? That said, the football fan in me would like to see a bit more excitement in the title race, so after all that I'll be fine with either result!

you are right - but it is all about opinions and on this subject I guess there is no right or wrong despite the strength of those opinions - I absolutely fully respect the opinions of those that want a scum win - I just absolutely do not

I think that we are going to be top 4 anyway - and a double with the scum not winning the title would be nice. We are out of it but I would hugely prefer the arse to win the title over the scum

Fucking bang on. Why do people think that Chelsea winning and us not finishing in the top 4 are mutually exclusive.

There are what, 9/10 games left this season. It is in our hands whether we finish in the top 4. Hows about Chelsea paste the rags tonight, and we go and do the same to Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in a few weeks time - well, because we know that our negative manager hasnt got the fucking balls or ability.

If we dont finish top 4, it has fuck all to do with Chelsea beating United tonight.

i think it's because a lot of people know that manchester city cannot cope with any kind of pressure you can see that when they concede against fulham so i'd rather have chelsea and tottenham deflated by the time we come to face them rather than all three of us on similar points seeing as everyone knows we never beat tottenham and though we have a good record over chelsea, they're gonna be out for revenge. city are still the type of team who an off form striker gets a brace against. crack on deluding yourself though!

I'm not deluding myself, I am saying what SHOULD happen.

What will most likely happen is totally different, and had you read my post fully, you will have seen my lack of belief in what Mancini has what it takes to motivate and inspire the team to achieve that 4th place.

Even if they do fuck up, it's unlikely we can get enough points to catch them. We could however get 3rd or even 2nd if Arsenal have their usual collapse. Our result Sat & Chelsea's tonight means we're under pressure just to get 4th now though.

I think their collapse has already been triggered by the carling cup debacle. I'm just waiting to see it fully manifest itself in the next few games. Arsenal know they won't win a trophy this year (and probably not until they get some character in their team). Their spirit is broke and I can see them going 5th. At least I hope

Rationally a Chelsea loss deprives them of 3pts which would nave been a handy gap.

Oh the irony - absolutely priceless!!!!

Putting aside the 4th place issue, I have just got up after too many beers last night and the 1st thing I saw was baconface being interviewed, ranting on about the ref and how he has been only yards away from incidents and Luiz should have been sent off - Also how ir was a soft penalty etc etc......

He is such as arrogant fucker that he simply misses the double-standards and irony

Now I might still be pissed but it has made me laugh big time

I am really convinced that Chelsea will at less manage to get 3rd, and it will be a battle once again between us and the Spurs for 4th spot. Our game against them at home will be decisive.

I've had to endure 2 hours (so far) of every Utd fan at work bitching and moaning about bad refereeing decisions.. they can't see how Rooney shouldn't of been playing or anything else that's gone in there favour this season, it's just hilarious

P.S If we grow some balls were in the top 4 no problem

I think you are likely to be right.I still have 70 points as the target we need to achieve and that looks a long way away as it's 20 points from 10 games. We are on less than 2 points a game at the moment and with some tough games to go it will be hard to do that from now especially the form we are in.We must get our game together and quick.Wigan is an easy game.....is it?

Fucking disasterous result for us tonight. Now they'll be coming at us full of confidence with all guns blazing rather than nervous & shot through.

Thank God for Reading.

Maybe, just maybe, we'll start playing a little like a Champions League wannabe team rather than our current Championship wannabe form.

In no way is that a 'disasterous' result. I think it says more about your opinion of our side than anything else Ted; have you really lost the faith?

No. I was hoping for at least 3rd spot, which means finishing above Chelsea. They have been playing worse than us on the whole, werte fucking diabolical v Liverpool & have been underperforming & average all season.None of their players are used to struggling for 4th, they're used to fighting for trophies. A defeat last night would have put them under immense pressure & been a shot in the arm for us. They needed something like last night in order to kick them into gear. They got it; ahuge psychological boost which gives their multi trophy winning players a goal to aim for.

If they beat us, we may well be looking at a table with Spurs & Chelsea ahead of us the next day. Who will be favourites for 4th then? Us? We'll take points from Anfield & Goodison & beat Spurs at home for sure?

Our job just became much much harder.

Who gives a fuck though, so long as Utd didn't win. We can have the satisfaction of them winning the league with 3 less points, which is so important..

You see Ted, I don't actually want to see United win fuck all. I don't want to see them win the league again and certainly don't want to see them gloating about them winning their 19th League title, going above the Dippers. But on the point of pressure, aren't every team under pressure when they are fighting for the Top 4? I want to see our club go into the CL being worthy of that place and we go out to win our way into it. Yes, last year was a bit of a downer but that was down to our own performances and a different enphasis against Arsenal and Spurs could have sealed it. This year is exactly the same and we should not have to worry about what other teams are doing and concentrate on our own games starting with Wigan.

If Bobby fucks this up, for me he'll be by far the worse appointment we've made for a long while and quite rightly should be shown the exit, and I'm sure he knows that as well (Was Khaldoon at the game on Sunday?). However, I think he's got the qualities to see us through and even with the lack of options with the playing staff at the moment I still think we've got the team to hold 3rd place and challenge those above (Arsenal and United will suffer as well).

Now, where's that office Rag, I need to vent some venom!

Imo, we're so used to being shite & not competing for anything that we don't even realise the importance of games, when it's staring us in the face. The (lack of) atmosphere v Fulham showed how nobody truly realised how much we needed the 3 points. Likewise the pathetic joy taken in our biggest rivals for a Champ's Lg spot taking 3 points off the rags last night, is going right over everyone's heads. We're so used to being fucking losers that we don't look at fixtures as 'must win' for us & 'must lose' for other teams. We just sail through life expecting things will somehow work out.

The number of people who thought a point was good at weakened Arsenal last season, because it's Arsenal, even though they were struggling like fuck; when if they looked at the table, it was obvious we were giving Spurs a chance, which they took but many didn't get it. "What's the matter it's a good point" they said. Same with our playing for a point at home to the rags this season.

This is another of those potentially season changing moments.

Chelsea were behind us, even if they won their game in hand. We could have lost at the Bridge & still been ahead of them, with them needing to win at OT to get above us, assuming we could match their other results. Now they can lose at OT & still finish above us. We will drop points but they probably will too, so we had an advantage. It's gone now.

9 Sat 15:00 PREM H Wigan Athletic

20 Wed 19:45 PREM H Birmingham City
23 Sat 17:30 PREM H West Ham United
30 Sat 17:30 PREM H Tottenham Hotspur

By the time they play Spurs, they could have left us for dead even if they drop a point or two, as we will probably drop more points. We really need to beat them now & hope Blackpool or Stoke do us a favour. We also need to beat Spurs & hope they lose a few.

A rags victory would have given us a real buffer against them.

Know you feel strongly about this Ted - and nobody can question the 'reality' that you describe - it is clear that you are right

But I am one of those cheering like fuck to see baconface moaning in interviews

This might mean that the scum win the title with 3 less points - but it also might mean that they do not win it at all - that makes me happy and willing to embrace a bit of risk.

The CITY team have just got to man up and go about their business with more effort and urgency for the next 10 games

I see where you're coming from Ted but I think you're being a bit too negative here. Liverpool and Everton are two games we can win, Everton lost at home to fucking Reading yesterday, FFS, and Liverpool have been average all season; Anfield will lift them but only so much. As for Spurs, it's a tough game for sure but by then we might have recovered our form. As for the Chelsea game, they didn't impress me at all last night and I believe we can at least draw with them, which would defuse part of the scenario you described.

Winning tonight can give us that psychological boost we need to get back into form.
