God Jo's such an embarrassment, what the hell does Mancini in that plank.

To his credit he seemed to squeeze 90 minutes shitness into just 10 minutes. Not that it takes away from a great performance, well in City.

Zabba was immense.. Jo hit the target.. I could go on.

and I know many, me included, wanted to see Johnno back but let's remember that none of us really knows how fit exactly he is.
If he is not 100%, I most certainly would not have wanted to put him in there at risk as there were couple of hefty challenges going on (though it calmed a lot down after the third). He already surely got a boost of getting a sniff of 1st team action and he will play again soon.

we were very comfortable. Maybe it was best for MJ just to have the sniff of first team action. Keep him focused on getting there on merit and not just for a cameo run out in a game that was won. Also sent a message to Dzeko that we can win without him so he needs to prove his worth

I think the reason Jo was brought on was so he's got a bit more match sharpness, lets face it, there's more chance of him being used this season than MJ (rightly or wrongly).

Not sure why he got the shit he did on here either, thought it was a reasonable cameo, won a few headers and linked up quite well.

I havent read all 10 pages of this but what was the general feeling about Vieira tonight?

When I saw City's team I was pleased Mancini had gone for the 1 main striker even if a little surprised at the overall team. A little worried about the lack of pace with Barry,Vieira,Kolarov,Yaya but then I saw Villa's team and thought it was gift week. But to be fair the experience of Vieira and Barry showed through all match and both I felt were very good in their roles. Patrick's best game possibly

That Reading stat is wrong, I'm sure of it. That was a replay in the Coca Cola Cup after a one all draw at our place. Quinn got our goal in the first tie. I remembered when he mentioned the game was in 93 as the 1-1 was my first City game. I was sat in the North Stand on the front row with my mates and Big Helen. And I'm fairly certain I remember us ripping them to shreds to the tune of 4 goals in the replay.

A minor point, but it was one that bothered me for some reason.

Fully agreed. Paddy's legs have shown him up a fair bit since he came, but tonight was a perfect example of how good a footballing brain he has. Kept things ticking along really nicely.

I thought Vieira & Barry played very well. I'm not sure we can get away with a team like that against decent oppo though. Villa made Fulham look like Barcelona, they were fucking useless. Also, it's difficult to be sure how things would have looked if we hadn't nicked the early goal from a corner. That's the importance of set pieces though. If you get the 1st goal, however you get it, you can then dictate the game if you're good enough. Vieira seems to be more clued up to getting a touch on the ball than most of our players.

If Villa had kept us out for a bit though, it's easy to imagine that lineup running out of ideas, with so few genuine attacking options.

This is it. I think this match we finally became a team. If and it's a big if, Carlos and Balotelli (with Dzeko)
are fat and happy then we are unbeatable most games. Like I said that is a big if. But there is no reason
to doubt or worry about this club. We are playing as good as I have ever seen City play.

What I particularly liked about tonight's performance was our collective defending in the final quarter when we were determined to deny Villa even a consolation goal.
And Kolarov's defending is slowly getting up there.
