So pleased he got that goal. Loved the way he ran forward celebrating it with his hand aloft and some Villa player try to bat it aside - he didn't even notice and jogged on. He punches above his weight physically and is streets ahead with his football brain. I'm salivating over the level of legendaryness he could achieve, and I do not care if that isn't a word.

I think you've just made it offcial.

But what I love about him is that he has every pundit salivating about him!
Gordon Strachan tonight saying he could play for Barcelona!
(and I bet his old mucker, David Villa, would LUHVE it if he was!)

The most sensible post on the thread.

And someone said he IS Man City.

Fucking behave. He's a very important player, no doubt about that. But he's not our best player, let alone the whole club itself.

possibly not the best but arguably the most indispensable

take him out of the line-up and we look an infinitely weaker team

He is there is no doubt but there is a danger of going OTT about him.Last night I thought he had a good game without being extra special. He clearly makes the team tick in the way we want to play.He links everyone together and has that something to thread passes and play clever one twos to create space and openings but I felt last night his final ball wasn't great.

Sounds like a criticism but it's not meant to be.He played well last night but for me not MotM well. The best and key pass last night was from Yaya and I would have had our best midfielder as Patrick. Still a joy to watch him play though.

His vision and range of passing is the thing. Absolutely hates to give the ball away too, and drops off into the space between midfield and the back line into an area defenders hate to go in. He seems to have the freedom to roam and cause all the havoc he wants, and must be a joy yo play with if you are a forward because he will put the ball on a sixpence for you.

I think you are right.David is a very very good player, but the pass Yaya did was as creative and excellent as anything David did. However as Mario finished it so well it seems not to be getting the recognition into how good it was and deserves. In fact I think Yaya is as important to the team as David and as good ,but because he appears a bit less energetic than some of the other players he comes in for stick.

I'd be interested to see their respective stats for the season so far...

One of that trio surely has to be Player of the Season.

Atm I'd give it to Silva.

Without him we don't look the same side. We can handle missing Tevez, Kompany, de Jong, Balotelli but when Silva is missing we are a much weakend side. It would be interesting to see the stats of how we go on when he is missing as we all know we carry on as normal when the aforementioned players are missing so in that respect he is Manchester City.

Yaya has played just over 2000 mins and David has played just under. And according to EA sports who are the organisation Barclays use, Yaya is 44(been in the twenties until recently) methinks and David is 88.Vincent,Joe and Gareth are our highest players. They take into account passes, interception, goal, assists etc...For me this is how it looks aswell when I see them play.I think Yaya does a lot he doesn't get credit for.David is fantastic but I think Yaya is as good if not better.

eh?!

Would Tevez sneak into fourth position, or would someone pip him to that?

Tevez and maybe VK are our only players that may sneak into the short running for POTY in the Premier League, so I really don't get the above posts.

After last night's performance I decided I'd had enough
I was going to get me a Silva shirt
For those who think this is no big deal, I've never bought a player, club, or country shirt, in any sport!!!

Woah there !

Whilst I agree with most of the analysis so far.... It really will take a heck of a lot to get one up on Colin Bell.

I think Silva is what makes us tick though. Of course, it is a team game, but Silva seems to know exactly when to hold onto the ball, take a little steam out of the action and when to release it.
His peripheral vision is great.
He subjugates his own play and take on events, for the sake of the team. ( ie , he will say sorry for a perfectly good pass, that say Teves, will then fluff)

I did see Colin Bell in his pomp; albeit, mostly on a black and white tv.
But I'm quite sure, for all of his talents, he didn't have the complete mastery of a football like Silva does.
to know exactly when and how to make it do his bidding
Nor did he have the balletic balance and control that Silva possesses.
Yes, he's never going to cause a defence part like the proverbial Red Sea by running at them with pace and power
Because he's not built like that

There was a reason he was nicknamed Nijinsky.

It wasn't because he was hung like a horse either.

Nijinsky was a famous Russian Ballet Dancer ( Hung like a horse though) and probably explains that ....

He must also have been a buddist, because in his next life he came back as probably one of the finest
three year old thoroughbreds ever to have graced the race track ( peaking at the time City were in their prime too ).

I think Allison was trying to capture the description of one of the finest performing artists ever, juxtaposed to the beauty and
stamina, the power and strength of a thoroughbred in it's prime.

Or am I sounding a bit too Arty , farty here ?
