I saw him close up in the other match this season.

He started well yesterday, but I personally feel he faded after about 30 minutes. He did well, but wasn't your best player on the day. He is however a type of mercurial player that any decent team needs to have. The last one we had was Benayoun a few seasons back, or, as you will well know for yourselves, Berkovic even longer ago. Silva has similar qualities, but may turn into better than both the examples I have given.

But, before you get too carried away generally, West Ham's defence (and midfield) have problems tracking anybody at all.

The way Tompkins tried to make Zabba stand up towards the end lacked class,Zabs is fucking rock solid and would only stay down if he was really injured.
He was never me,me,me but always you, you, you

I thought Barry was the best player on the pitch until he went off and Lescott, apart from his handball in the box, had an excellent game too

How many times have we dropped a lead after Vieira's been subbed on?

Just a thought.

I spoke as I found him yesterday. I didn't know about the other stuff, tbh.

It is instructive that a lot of you have chosen a full back for MotM, against a team that has lacked width all season long and who conjured up minimal goal threat.

His positional play was excellent, provided intelligent cover for the centre-halves when they were out of position, over-lapped at the right time, his passing was good and he scored an excellent goal. I think that's enough justification.

As for staying up...I sincerely hope you manage it. I have a feeling you will stay up, as long as you get Parker on the field and if Ba is played centrally.

Cannot believe only 6 votes for Lescott - thought that he was superb in all aspects of his game

I watched Lescott pretty closely. His defensive work was fine but his distribution was TERrIBLE. He gave it back to them more than he found a blue shirt.

Zabaleta. The guy is tough as nails. I also like how he said he likes Manchester in an interview and how he likes to go to the local chippy. Awesome guy XD.

Noticed that too - usually he's pretty conservative on the ball but the other day seemed content just to leather it.

Barry's passing was great in the first half but ultimately I thought it was right to sub him. Milner impressed playing centrally but Zab was the best on park for me.
