Ever lived in Spain? Just wondering.

No. But what do you prefer, to be stuck indoors because it's raining or out on the beach having a bbq?

I've lived and worked in Madrid, spent a fair bit of time in Barcelona. Both cities are beautiful (particularly Barcelona) and have a number of monuments of great historical interest etc bla bla bla.
That's not the point I was making. I was taking issue with the 'beaches and culture' cliché. Most Spanish cities - even Madrid in my opinion - are much less culturally diverse than Manchester. That's why I love it - you go there and you do as the Romans do. It's not just another cosmopolitan metropolis.

Build very straight roads, feed people to lions & have orgys? Sounds fucking great!

Tell you one thing though if I was born in Argentina and grew up in that climate and could speak the language I would probably prefer to live in Spain over England and the fact that the worlds greatest football team might be willing to take me there would be great.
Can't remember who but someone said if Sanchez had snubbed us we would have fucked him off. Hats off to you sir the deal is still very much alive!

Of course it's important. A south American is always gonna find it easier to settle into a country such as Spain than Britain and that can have a big impact on his decision.

I love it how we always talk about "South Americans" as some sort of homogenous group yet get offended when Americans call everyone in Europe "Europeans".
I do it too.

Exactly.
I'm English, my fiancée is from the States, but I feel less foreign in Spain than I do in America.
I like how the discussion has conveniently shifted from culture to language. Didn't get a satisfactory explanation for the Spain being 'more cultural' than Manchester claim.

Well go and take a look round. The weather, the houses, villages, the beaches, the mountains etc. beautiful place to live. And you're bonkers to think the lifestyle in Manchester competes.
Alioune DVToure wrote:But I am in a position to decide having lived in both Manchester and Spain. You are not. See how impressed you are with the Spanish way after the Ministry of Education have failed to pay you on time for the fourth consecutive month. It's not all sun, sea and sand. It's not like being on holiday for your entire fucking life.
There's also nothing remotely cultural about 'the mountains' or 'the beaches'.
