Must be a hard life for a footballer to decide wether to go to Spain for 80k a week or move to shitty horrible, teen pregnancy riddled, broken Manchester and live in such terrible hardship under a cloud and a cold winter all while trying to protect your family from streets teeming with crime all for only 120-150k a week.

My heart really bleeds.

Manchester seems to have got worse since I left.I suppose everywhere would be a worse place without me.
I think that if you got 150k a week you would do it for a week or two and then fuck off somewhere nice(like Spain).
I think most people if it was not for the oodles of cash that come with playing in the prem were given the chioce would pick the cultuarly barren wastelands in Spain.

Thats the thing though Geezer these players dont move to a two up two down in Moss Side where life can be questionable they move into 4 million pound houses in gorgeous areas with fantastic facilities and a standard of living one can only dare dream of.

The ONLY reason to not live in Manchester is the weather, thats all,it does rain and yes the winters are cold it's wether you want to do it for three-five years and earn a sack.

The modern day footballer doesnt give a shit about architecture and cultural riches, they give a shit about a stack and bitches on the beach.

If you earn enough money as you say nowhere should be a chore to live.
From my own experience what I can say is that now that I live in a place where the weather is comfortable for about 75% of the year, it is very important to me.It affects all aspects of my life and plays a big part in everything I do.I know that working out in the cold and rain when its grey is not good for my psyche and imagine players who have spent most of their lives in normal weather would give it a lot of consideration. For me the conditions outside now that I have spent a bit of time in decent weather are a very big part of my standard of living.
These footballers can make lots of cash wherever they go so why is it a suprise to think they will go where it is better place to be outside if thats where the majority of their time is spent

This.

If you're on £200k pw all this is fucking irrelevant, you can afford to be apart from the bad stuff & partake in as much 'culture' as you want. Does anyone really believe people like Tevez & Robinho give one flying shite about teenage pregnancy in Wythenshawe or the price of a packet of fags?

Robinho is a fucking ponce who was too lazy to play in the Premier league & Tevez is a thick cunt who has no social life because he can't speak English & he drove his wife away by shagging 19 year olds. Now she's coming back, he's got someone to talk to & Kia has realised nobody will pay the money so it'll be sorted.

If Barca come in for you, the attraction is that they are the best team in this generation, not the fucking half finished church. Failing that Sanchez can fucking well put up with the purgatory that is Manchester for £200k pw & then fuck off to the beach in 5-10 years time.

Spot on Ted..its human nature...I have gone to shit holes to earn more money (I did whinge like a bitch for every day I was there though) and I think footballers are no different even if they are on millions compared to thousands.

Some players like Zabaleta focus on the positivies whereas the Tevezes of the world rarely will.

By the way...live in Barca or Manchester???....thats like comparing owning a ferrari or a 1972 Robin reliant.

Hold on there, Carl. Without any subiectivism, if Barcelona wasen't playing so good, we could really fall asleep at a Barca-Real game. The singing and the atmosphere is so poor in comparision with a Manchester derby.

Geez, the fact is a South American born and bred in a hot climate will find it a heck of a lot easier to settle in Spain than in Manchester.

Of course it matters to the players where they live.

In winter...it's like that all year round in Manchester, but rainy instead :)

And anyway - that's a choice picture for his hometown. It's sunny out there.

It can be, but it isn't as a rule. It's on the Pacific coast so the weather is pretty changeable.

It's a pretty hometown though, I have to give him that.

Went to Barca once on a stag do. Got completely lost (whilst sober) and walked through the bit where real people live and it was a rough looking shit hole. Sure, the city centre is nice, but it stinks of sewerage, or at least it's did on the weekend I was there.

Frankly, most large cities are pretty similar, it's just the temperature and language which changes. Considering Sanchez would be living in Prestbury, he may as well be on the moon compared to round Eastlands or most other parts of Manchester (or Barca).
As someone above said, come at it with a positive frame of mind and he'll be fine. If he's just going to whinge about wanting to be in Barca, then he wouldn't be happy on St Tropez beach.

Storing thing is, if you'd asked me if I wanted him in May, I couldn't have cared less as I knew nothing about him. Still don't, but if Barca is fighting this hard, he must be worth it. Just hope he can adapt to the premier league if he gets here.

Barca make quite a few bad signings tbh so just the fact they're interested doesn't prove anything. It's their wealth of homegrown talent that gets them out of the shit when they spunk millions on players they didn't need or that don't fit in.

"Wobbles head"

I have tried to keep a pace of this thread and have no idea if it has been mentioned previously...

IF I was going to move somewhere for 3+years I would most certainly look to move somewhere that I could communicate in my native tongue BEFORE the climate of the destination?

Bottom line is we are 2nd in line when it comes down to it, we are NOT Barca and our native language is NOT Spanish. It will boil down to whether or not Barca get out bid, if Sanchez is coming to England ( I have NO idea if the lad speaks English) but I can suspect that where he is from that if he accepts what Barca offer pay wise is a million times better than his family would ever have dreamt of when he was born?

This whole "but ManC is wet" is bollox, end of! His number one choice will naturally be Barca because (A) who they are (B) language (somewhere about E) would be climate/weather/Wythenshawe.

That all said and done, I would love to see him in City shirt.

I am just being realistic, the lad can afford to go to Barca and earn more than he could ever of imagined, he is what, 22? Jesus, do I want to earn more than my entire family does in ten years per week or earn more at City?

People quite often on here either site the money players or potential signing on as being greed or disloyalty to us for going elsewhere, which sometimes I find farsical (sp)

Manchester is a fantastic city - I live in Whalley Range just down from the Alex estate and i've never seen any crime - you keep your nose clean and you get on just fine, most of your neighbours a great people. I doubt Barca has a zero crime rate.

The city centre has a thriving vibrant night life and there are some great clubs and restaurants.

Add to that the MOSI, Imperial War Museum, Manchester Museum, Manchester Art Gallery, Salford Quays, Tatton Park, Heaton Park, The various theatres then there is plenty there to keep a rich footballer occupied when he's not playing on his xbox.

From a football perspective though Barca is a no-brainer!!

I beg to differ Nick. The nightlife has been dead for years. It`s all pop music now. We used to have the best club and djs and clubbers in the world. I have to wait for the Southport weekender to come round for a good night out now.

On a footballing note as I said before do we sell him Wilmslow or Wythenshawe, stay positive. there`s plenty in the NW as a whole to keep him busy including golf courses and with our shite weather it will be links golf which he wont get in sunny spain.

Just don`t tell him the nightlife is good you`ll look like a liar.

I lived on Withington Rd for a few years and worked on it.Whilst I was living there I got burgled 3 times, had prostitutes walking past my front door, saw a granny get her purse snatched a few other things but just trying to paint a picture for you.Whalley has a few drug dealers in it Caught on the hop got closed down for it.Seen no crime lucky you.
Lots of places in cultuarly barren spain have top restaurants, art galleries.Ibiza is pnly a few miles away, pretty vibrant.

Not being a pedant here or anything, but what kind of venues do people see our players out and about in in the centre? Or is it mainly casinos and restaurants they're spotted at?

Really? I thought this is really acute and insightfull.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
