Must be a hard life for a footballer to decide wether to go to Spain for 80k a week or move to shitty horrible, teen pregnancy riddled, broken Manchester and live in such terrible hardship under a cloud and a cold winter all while trying to protect your family from streets teeming with crime all for only 120-150k a week.

My heart really bleeds.

Manchester seems to have got worse since I left.I suppose everywhere would be a worse place without me.
I think that if you got 150k a week you would do it for a week or two and then fuck off somewhere nice(like Spain).
I think most people if it was not for the oodles of cash that come with playing in the prem were given the chioce would pick the cultuarly barren wastelands in Spain.

Manchester is a fantastic city - I live in Whalley Range just down from the Alex estate and i've never seen any crime - you keep your nose clean and you get on just fine, most of your neighbours a great people. I doubt Barca has a zero crime rate.

The city centre has a thriving vibrant night life and there are some great clubs and restaurants.

Add to that the MOSI, Imperial War Museum, Manchester Museum, Manchester Art Gallery, Salford Quays, Tatton Park, Heaton Park, The various theatres then there is plenty there to keep a rich footballer occupied when he's not playing on his xbox.

From a football perspective though Barca is a no-brainer!!

I lived on Withington Rd for a few years and worked on it.Whilst I was living there I got burgled 3 times, had prostitutes walking past my front door, saw a granny get her purse snatched a few other things but just trying to paint a picture for you.Whalley has a few drug dealers in it Caught on the hop got closed down for it.Seen no crime lucky you.
Lots of places in cultuarly barren spain have top restaurants, art galleries.Ibiza is pnly a few miles away, pretty vibrant.
Manchester is a fantastic place I agree but there is better here

Spain is a country. Manchester is a City. If we're comparing countries there are lots of nice parts of Britain which are just as desirable in their own way as parts of Spain are in their own way.

If you're comparing Barca to Manchester, then instead of talking about the whole of Spain, why not do it fairly stick to talking about your experiences of Barca, which presumably has no crime to speak of? Perhaps you can tell us why you chose not to live there ?

Mainly Alderley Edge, about 14 miles away from the City centre. I do occassionally see players in Hale, or Plough and Flail or the Frozen Mop in Mobberley.

Ive heard Xavi goes in "Scorchio" in the centre of Barcelona.;-)

I'd guess it involves a plane ride from Barcelona to Ibiza, so it's basically only an hour and a bit further away from Manchester than Barca once you've taken into account all the shenanigans at the airport.

From where I am its a boat ride aswell as the plane.Barça you may be right. You don't need a passport though so might be a little easier.

I have only been to Barça a couple of times so feel that my experiencws of their are not worth telling. It would not suprise me if the stats for crime were the same as Gunchester.I would say it happens in most big cities.
For me comparing countries is relevant, not only Barça agaist Manchester.

Speculation: Reports in Italy claim Alexis Sanchez has told Udinese that he will not join Manchester City and if he cannot move to Barcelona he will stay put.

Speculation: Elvis is alive and has recently become so pally with Tupac that he has also gotten a Thug Life tattoo. Its been speculated that it cost a lot more than Tupac's because there was a bigger area to cover.

I'll keep my ear to the ground for anything more....

Mancini said live on Sky Italia that we've pulled out of the deal. Sanchez had agreed to come but the price was too high.

Apparently he also said he only has 3 strikers and needs a fourth (Ade, RSC, Bellamy, Caicedo, Jo, etc?).

Did you see that? It's not being reported anywhere on the "newswires"

I don't think we'll have pulled out of anything til he signs for someone else....

i'd still like him to sign for us .. but the prices being discussed are a bit silly.

Time to fire up FM and see who we should go after next ... Arturo Vidal? think i heard him mentioned. FM superstar. Ive been playing a long term game of FM, originally started with a french club Montpellier ... Just got offered the job at city, came in found Rio Ferdinand as a youth coach (fired him immediately without even looking at stats), we had eden hazard, gervinho, vidal, fernandinho, ashley young, tevez, loic remy, dzeko and a shit ton of italian and ukranian defenders I had never heard of ... including that guy that played a season for barca chrygyreryerysdjnski. I figure any of those will do.

allegedly, Mancini gave an interview to Sky Italia, although nowhere else seems to have reported it.
If it's true, I don't think the deals definitely dead. He said he'd spoken to Sanchez who'd be happy to come (he's obviously not read on here how shit City fans think Manchester is). It was clear the problem was Udinese. They now have a player who's been priced out of a move to bigger clubs who would have paid him a lot more. His agents also missed out on a very big pay day. I therefore suspect Sanchez and his agent are a bit pissed. I'd expect Pozzo back on the phone before the week's out, like a desperate car dealer.
