If it's true, I don't mind the manager bringing in one or two players he fancies taking a punt on, so long as we try our best to get the big targets too. If Bob thinks he can get something more out of this player than other managers have, then I'm happy to let him try, so long as we improve the squad with a few quality signings. All our players don't have to be superstars, some have to fill holes. A balance is good.

I just wish he'd chosen to have that attitude with Bellamy rather than discarding him as I think he would have done that utility spare attacker job as well as anyone we could ever sign.

Not sure he could now. A whole season playing with those trogs at Cardiff must take it's toll on your sharpness at that age.

They always work out.

The rule of thumb in Italy is....If negotations go quick and easily then usually the player is shit.

So that's Italianbs and Brazilians off the list. Any more? Danny Mills was English so obviously we should try to avoid those. Kinkladze was from Georgia. Maybe we should concentrate on finding players there?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Tbf it's not Italians, it's anyone playing in Italy so theoretically an Italian playing in Spain could be ok.

Been there, done that. Bernardo Corradi.

I would have understood this transfer much more if the guy wasn't 24. He's a bit too old to be a promising player.

You're all writing him off but I bet hardly any of you could even picture him before this came to light.

The way I see it is that there's loads of good players in the Premier League that a lot of Spanish and Italian fans won't have heard of.

I like these strange signings every now & then. I was hoping the rumours of that Honda bloke were true. Obviously there must be a reason he's not costing us £30 mil but whatever his faults in the past, Bob obviously rates him & sometimes, under the right manager, bargains do turn into excellent players, even in this day & age. Why shouldn't City unearth one for once?

Yes we have a poor record in buying from Italy, but I don't think we should assume that every player
we buy needs to be a household name and cost 25 Million!!!

Look at Vinny & Zabba, was it 6 & 5 million each and they were both relatively unknown.
Arguably 2 of our best buys over the last couple of years.

We don't have to have Bling buys all the time !!!!

That's a good point, and I certainly don't write Cerci off yet. We can't have a full squad of super stars. I was surprised that he is already 24, though - I thought that Mancini would go for slightly younger players, when he's after "wild cards". But on the other hand, he's only one year older than Zaba was and two years older than Kompany when they arrived at City.

I know this is pathetic but he looks ok on Youtube!

He obviously has plenty of ability but for whatever reason must have failed to produce it often enough so far. If these stories are true Bob must think he knows why that is. Perhaps he does. We shall see.

Found this article and now I really want the guy to sign.

The term "explosive/searing pace" comes up a lot.

One thing I craved more than anything last season was a player with "explosive pace"!!!

Could be a sleeper signing this. In bobby we trust!
