Problem is, someone has filled his head that he is worth more but seems to be struggling to find another club who agree.
City probably want to show him he is still wanted and in their plans, if he signs.
Personally I think he wants first team football and was put off by all the recent signings up front. I agree that the invite to the US is an attempt by us to encourage him to sign, but I hope we follow it up with a few appearances over the season too, when circumstances allow it (and assuming he actually does sign).
I also think it has more to do with first team football than with money. The lad is 19 and needs to be playing other than in the reserves to keep on developing.
Like I said in winter/spring when he was talking about leaving, fair play to the lad, he looks too good for reserve football (which we don't even play anymore, mind). I'm not sure we can offer him as much playing time as he wants but I see him as genuine top talent so I'd love us to keep him and send him on loan again.
That boy also seems so confident of his ability that I don't think it's about money at this stage either. I think he believes he is destined to big club/big contract anyway as long as he gets the chance to show what he has got to offer. I think he said as much in one of the interviews.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
