When I stand back and look, we've been around the block a few times today with this, the swingometer moving back and forth, rumours, speculation, guesswork, half-truths, supposition, debate. We start the day with him 'signed', end up with him 'not coming' and the most likely scenario of the days happenings, is that not much in reality has happened either way.
We are no closer, no further away, but we all look for snippets, glimpses, something to put meat on the bone.

However, the only piece of positive news I have gained is Mancini's determination and certainty to have as many as three new faces in the squad, within the next week or so, going from his website interview. One would think they would be high calibre players, otherwise why bother, so we can hope and wait that these are the players we all would like.

Manchester United have been linked with the Dutch star for most of the summer but attempts to sign him have floundered because the overall financial package is just too great.

Over the past 24 hours a number of rumours have surfaced suggesting City may exploit United's difficulty and swoop for Sneijder themselves.

However, immediately after his side's 3-2 Community Shield defeat to United at Wembley, Mancini rejected claims he was about to raid his former club.

However this pans out, I can't help but think that if we really wanted Sneijder we would have got him, we had all the cards, Tevez, in a swap, our ability to pay more, and higher wages, so if he doesn't come to us, I would say for some reason, we didn't want to persue it.

I agree. I also have no idea why we were not in for him, what with the Tevez card to play. Him going to the rags is not good.
