the champs league games isnt for a week or so and we most likely will have signed him (if we do) way before then. i think his inclusion (and fabregas') in their squad is a precautionary one. if neither player leaves they surely want them playing in the champs league...if they do leave, they'll change the squad.

Correct, precautionary.

Also he is banned for the first leg, impossible for him to play.

Call me cynical, but maybe this is part of the deal (assuming he is banned for one game, and that we are actively negotiating to buy him) - Arse name him in their squad so he serves his suspension before we buy him, freeing him to play in our first group game.

FOOTBALL - The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri will get his move to Manchester City. The Gunners have told City manager Roberto Mancini he can have the French international for £22m after conceding that they have zero chance of persuading Nasri to sign a new contract.

i dunno if arsenal would be that "nice" to us...to use his ban for them and not us. however, by the time that game rolls around i think itll be 2 weeks into the prem (or so) and we want Nasri sooner....

Although the Daily Mail saw some Machieavellian plot in it, I would've been very surprised if Arsenal hadn't named Fabregas and Nasri in their CL squad. They are Arsenal players.

Exactly, by not putting them in their squad they are admitting to their fans that they're both leaving

Thought it would have become more public by now but I still think this will happen. Perhaps the international game is getting in the way.

This might help push the Nasri deal along:

I have to say I am very surprised this lad has got a visa.

That'll definitely help. Two new players for the wings, even if they are kids, will help Wenger justify letting Nasri leave.

I'm watching it as well, can't understand a word they're saying. Wish I'd took French serious, but then again, it was French.

It's very confusing opening a "Nasri deal off" thread to read that it is looking increasingly likely that we may get him!

BBC Sport claiming Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Barca for the sale of Fabregas. We really do need an answer from Arsenal on Nasri now. Is Wenger really prepared to cave on this one or are the Board up for a row with him just before the start of the season? We also need a plan B which must surely be Sneijder. If Cook and Marwood screw this up I'll have every sympathy with Mancini throwing his toys out the pram. We absolutely need a top class midfield recruit and we need him fast. It's not in Arsenal's interests to string this out because they will want to reinvest the money and it's not in our interests either because we need to bed in Nasri asap.
