Little interview with D Taylor from the Guardian about City

Little interview with D Taylor from the Guardian about City

Postby twosips » Wed Aug 10, 2011 6:28 pm

I spoke to Danny Taylor and asked if he'd do an interview about all things City for me. He was dead nice and replied quickly saying it'd be fine. He answered some questions for me. There's some very interesting stuff that personally i wasn't aware. Found his thoughts on Mancini fascinating for one. Naturally he says some things that we'll disagree with, but that's the beauty of being a football fan. He comes across as very reasoned to me...

Thought some of you would fancy a read. I personally enjoyed it.

Cracking read. You put some excellent questions him.

His thoughts on Bobby and his relationship with Cook and Marwood are particularly interesting.

Good work.

Very good read mate and gives people a little insight into what a journo really knows about our club, some more than others.

I wish you asked about the Carlos saga back in December and seen what he knew; I bet that would've been an interesting read.

Thanks for posting.

Ta. Just went to post it over on bluemong (don't give me that look - I write a blog - hits are important for artistic feedback ha) and realised you need 100 posts to start a topic. Mental that even with that filter so much shit gets posted on there!

Re: Tevez - yeah, to be honest, I completely forget to ask him that. I wish I had really. I was in a rush when i sent the questions off, and I didn't want to really press him for more answers to extra questions as he'd clearly put quite a bit of time out for me in the first place so i thought i'd leave it.

Cracking blog mate. Really really enjoyed it! Nice little bit about fans of all clubs accusing him of bias

Tbh - i can take little credit from it. Danny's answer are more insightful and interesting than i ever thought they'd be. Pretty standard questions, but the answers are those of a top class journalist. Very interesting stuff. I genuinely feel like i've got some exclusives too bizarrely! I definitely hadn't read about some of this stuff elsewhere. Pretty proud!

He doesn't understand the FFP rules either it seems, no wonder City aren't worried about it.

Well done mate. Good read.

Taylor's view of the political machinations of Bob are exactly the same as mine. Not that I think it's a bad thing, just that I get sick of pointing out to people that it's Bob who decides who's in or out rather than a load of trouble making players all forcing his hand. Personally, I think the power he's got now is enough but if Cook & co are too slow to do the deals he wants, questions need to be asked.

Completely agree. Though I do think Marwood and Cook have to exist, merely because if there was no one sensibly pulling in the opposite direction to Mancini, we would have spent about £150m this summer, and we'd be royally screwed ahead of the inception of the FFP rules. However, they have to act quickly and precisely when things are agreed on - the Nasri deal for example. This needs to be completed as soon as possible. If they're the right men for this is questionable, but i'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I'm thinking of trying to interview a few people over the course of the season, but not quite sure yet. People in the media, decent ones anyway, do provide some thought-provoking comments. I doubt most will be as accessible as Mr Taylor will be, but we'll see. Fingers crossed.

Have you thought about contacting the club and getting an interview with someone there? It'd be interesting to hear from someone like Vicki Kloss about what problems she's had with the media or what one of the Legend's thinks of our current situation compared to when they were involved. Bernie Halford's got plenty of stories, and has a lot to say.

I do like to read/see the backroom staff's thoughts

A very enjoyable and interesting read.

I had a thought this week and wasn't sure that I wanted to post it given the way some threads go. Any way, come Christmas Bobby will have been in post for two years, or to put it another way, this time next year he'll have less than a year left on his contract. So, from, let's say Easter, if not before we can expect alot of positioning over a new contract (or, heaven forefend - a new manager).

How do folks think this is going to pan out?

A very good read. Ive found Daniel Taylor to be one of the most fair minded jouno's out there on City. I dont always agree with him but he's honest and doesnt always look for an angle, or go for some of the sensationalist crap that the Red tops run.

Fair play to him for doing that interview.

bitter - what united fans call city fans. apparently we're bitter.
munich - well, yeah...surely no explanation needed.
