I watched that, that sanchez didn't look all that. It's only one game but if he doesn't improve he is nowhere near the quality of the rest of the Barça team.

Are you kidding me? Were you out of the room when he waltzed through half the Real team a couple of times?

I must have been with him. I thought he ruined Barca's style.

Arsenal will receive a guaranteed £30m transfer fee, with a further £5m dependent on the number of games played and trophies won by the Spaniard during his time at the Nou Camp.

I'm not sure the board have fucked him over mate, when a player wants out then there's not much you can do but get the best price you can, and when it's a club like Barca that wants you, it even affects the price.

Maybe if Wenger built a team to win something then the likes of Fabregas may not want to leave. It must've been a right kick in the teeth to get to the CL final, against Barca, only to go down hill from there. Even worse, they were winning 1-0 when he was taken off then Barca scored a few minutes later with another coming near the end. Bad decision by Wenger?

Look, Wenger himself said that they'd be absolute clowns to sell both of them and wouldn't be able to compete few weeks back. I can't see any way Wenger would've gone back on his word in these past few weeks. I'm absolutely 100% positive Arsenal execs have made this decision alone.

But Wenger lies mate. He didn't actually say anything, it was a reporter who asked him 'So both of them are staying' (words to the effect of) which he replied coyly 'You can deduce that from my statement' - was that a question or a statement.

It was obvious that Wenger wants to keep his best players and even more obvious that they will have a hard time without them, but when you have 2 of your best players who are adamant on a move (Fab for the last 2 years, it had to come to a head, and Nasri has refused to sign a new contract on numerous occassions) then it leaves you little option but to sell on.

The biggest thing for me here is that Wenger has just wondered through it with no thought of replacing these players, knowing for a while that they would be going. Even Wenger must realise you can't keep a player who wants away from the club, and even more, why would he want to keep a player that no longer has any interest in playing for them.

On Nasri, why is he in his last year of a contract, surely, like most contracts, a new one is negotiated with a minimum of 2 years left to run on it? For me, that's given Wenger and co well over 12 months to get him signed up again but they have failed to do so, most probably because they were too interested in Fab.

You can't just blame the board for pulling the carpet from under him, they've been left with no other option because Arsene has been blind to what's really going on with his club.

Expect Nasri on Weds after the Arsenal v Udinese game and after he's served his 1 game Champs Lge ban.

Didn't see what your saying. He was wearing No 9 are you sure that you are not confusing him.And besides Messi's goal I think he had a very quite game.
To me it looked Real were the better side for most of the match.
I think the lack of Xavi in the first half really hurt them and they didn't improve much when he came on.
For me a club like Arse wont have any trouble attracting any player and a replacement for Fabregas won't be difficult. If I was Whinger I'd go for Modric

I can't believe it's blindness; he can (on this occasion) seeeeee it imo, but he's not tried to do anything about it. If he'd not been happy to take this behaviour from the board, which I recon he has, then why, when he's won so many trophies etc & was in a position of extreme power & influence, would he let the suits do this year after year without threatening to resign ? Imo, he's always been part of the same plan.

It could of course be that he doesn't care because either he's off to another club at the end of his contract or he's a gutless shite. If you see his recent interviews, when asked, he doesn't get annoyed; just laughs & smiles & makes snidey comments about City etc.

Ferguson or Bob would be going apeshit in the same position & probably resign. Wenger looks totally calm. Not at the side of the pitch though, when the football side kicks in, then he gets excited, just when asked about money, then he's not arsed.

However this pans out, Wenger's part in it shows him up to be either a gutless wonder or complicit. Either way; he's a wanker.

Re: Fabregas officially on his way

Postby phips » Thu Aug 18, 2011 3:59 am

If this is true this is actually kinda cool of Wenger...unlike the stupid Udinese boss trying to spark a bidding war over Sanchez,
Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal could have got more money for Cesc Fabregas but decided to grant the midfielder's wish to return to Barcelona.

The long-running transfer saga finally reached its conclusion on Monday when Fabregas sealed a move back to Camp Nou after eight years with the Gunners.

Wenger had previously resisted Barca's attempts to sign Fabregas as Arsenal held firm on a £40million valuation.

But it is reported that the final deal was only worth around £35million, with Arsenal believed to be getting paid £25m up front followed by a possible extra £4.3million depending on Barca's success.

"We sold Cesc for a reduced fee. If Cesc is for sale and you can make an auction between Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, you will certainly get more money, but he just wanted to go to Barcelona. "

Arsenal will then receive almost £1million for each year of Fabregas' five-year contract, while they have also secured a 'buy-back' option and a 50 per cent sell-on clause if Barca ever decide to move him on.

Wenger maintains that it is a good deal for Arsenal but admits they could have generated even more cash by starting a bidding war.

However, Wenger was prepared to let Fabregas rejoin the club where he started his career as a schoolboy.

"We sold Cesc for a reduced fee," said the Arsenal manager.

"If Cesc is for sale and you can make an auction between Real Madrid,Chelsea and Manchester City, you will certainly get more money, but he just wanted to go to Barcelona.

"If he was on the market to any club we would have got more money, but we did want to get a decent fee.

"That's what I'm paid for. You cannot say because you want to get the deal done as quickly as possible: ''Just take him and give us what you want'.

"You have to fight for your rights. What is good is that you call multi-million pound players 'cheap'."

Wenger believes there is a possibility that Fabregas will return to the Emirates Stadium at some point in the distant future.

He said: "Cesc went because he was desperate to play for his hometown club, where he was educated.

"Maybe he will come back one day to the club, you never know."

Or Cesc said he wanted to leave and only would accept a move to Barca and Wenger is making it sound like his choice in the matter was anything more than sell to Barca or keep an unhappy player.
