Can't see the club agreeing with that Antii.

It's the 'holy grail' they've been searching for and we now have a squad which should be quite capable of going a fair way without sacrificing our league form.

I know mate. That's just my personal opinion.

We have absolutely brilliant team with depth and talent in equal measure and on paper we could give both a good go. However SIX extremely tough CL games and being away in league after EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. Something is going to suffer.

In ideal world we limp past the group stage and maintain our league form.
I don't think I'm being overly negative either here, just realistic. I think year from now with current squad another year more experienced playing together we can expect serious go for both.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

total fuclin group of death...

all you ASSCLOWNS (cough, cough, cough mister hard man) who wanted a challenge or a "test", well, we've got it.

should be fun at least....we get through this group and we've got to be ready to do some real damage in this competition i think.

and yes i'd have preferred the "pussy" draw of an easier group to cut our teeth on.

cheers

I'm right with you. I wouldn't have minded some obscure Romanian team in group. Not at all.

yeah, i totally don't get the "come on die young" crews attitude on this one...puzzling. I want City to succeed, not get fucking pinched with fixture congestion and difficult matches in both competitions. i guarantee you Mancini had a drink and a shag last night wondering what the fuck he'll do because this isn't exactly "awesome" news.

If anyone is looking for a cheap travel option for the Munich game, Ryanair are currently £72 all in for Edinburgh - Munich Memmingen Mon 26th 10:40, back Wed 28th 10:35. Brilliant flight times and cheap as chips.

You''ll get a return train ticket from manc for about £50.

Not going myself, dates no good for me but my brother just text me this and I thought I'd pass it on.

City's football administrator, Brian Marwood, said that trips to Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Napoli would be just reward for fans who had followed the club's journey from the third tier of English football to the Champions League.

Indeed! What a journey! And it's not finished yet. All in a dozen or so years.

I'm thinking of doing Munich. Could get cheapo flights to Frankfurt and as far as I can remember, trains in Germany aren't too expensive.

Bayern were my second team for a long time so I should definitely be going to Munchen.

Trains from the Northern German cities like Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Cologne take between 3 hrs 15 and 5 hours and cost from about £120 return but less if you are under 26. The advantage of a train is you can get an early morning one back say 2am so enjoy celebrating City's victory in a beer hall and sleep on the train and get back for an early flight home and save on hotels. Also dead easy to book online and all in English and trains in Germany are clean and always on time. See deutschebahn website below

Brian Marwood on mcfc.co.uk.

"We feel that this is a fantastic part of Manchester City's history to be part of the premier European competition for the first time."

A curious thing to say.

i thought it was odd as well. Clearly, he means it's our first time in the CL as formatted like it is now, but again it defies history.

City are favourites to win the group and 5th favourites overall to win the whole damn thing, you really think we will "limp" through anything then you must have missed the part where we bought top players enough to fill up two teams.

After years of delusional over ambition it seems many City fans have gone in the opposite direction now.

In terms of the away trips, it'd have been nicer for supporters to have a couple of days in Barcelona or Lisbon, much better than waiting to get a knife in your arse in Naples.

I suppose it's an occupational hazard when it comes to being a supporter. Maybe the Italian authorities will change the rules.
