Reason for the botticelli being a favoured area of attack is that if you stab someone above the waist in Italy you are likely to get charged with GBH or attempted murder (or whatever the Italian equivalent is) whereas if you stab them below there you'd just get charged with regular assault/ABH.
Not 100% sure of the veracity of this but I have read loads of stories about arsestabbing by Italians so it seems plausible enough.
Watch your arses is what I'm saying in essence
edit: I just googled it and yes I did read it somewhere!

Or the quote in the desert war "never has so much been surrendered by so many to so few" when 300,000 Italian infantry were rounded up by 30,000 British mecahnised troops, competing with themselves to surrender!
Maybe that explains the stabbing in the buttocks business?

To the Turks, everything is "shurla burla", which means "like this, like that". You never know what will happen. All foreigners are "ayip", they're considered dirty. So is homosexuality, it's a big crime here, but most of them do it every chance they get. There are about thousand things that are "ayip", for instance, you can stab or shoot somebody below the waist but not above because that's intent to kill. So everyone runs around stabbing everyone else in the ass. That's what they call Turkish revenge. I know it must all sound crazy to you, but this place is crazy.
Thats a pretty old film but I think this stabbing in the ass has been going on for years and them Napoli are just resorting to tried and trusted ways of causing pain.

Renato mate, don't get your knickers in a twist......it's not a slur against Italy in general and you cannot deny that some of your countrymen do indeed indulge in vigorous arse stabbing.....it's been all over the news over many years. Just like we won't deny that the youth of the UK love a riot and a bit of looting.
We all have scumbags amongst our populations
