We need to go for the jugular right to the final whistle, at both the Bolton and Spurs games we have seen sideways passing and relaxation when we were in front when we could have been improving on our goal difference. Last season we missed out on 2nd due to goal difference and since United never seem to drop many points (even when underperforming) then I feel that we need to have the biggest goal difference we can.

Lets face it, we have had three outstanding games, and should still be well out in front since United were poor against WBA, poor in the first half of the Spurs game until Spurs collapsed and made it a walk in the park and I believe that any team in the prem would have got 5 past the Arse on sunday. We need to be more ruthless and rack up the goals, its worth an extra point.

Don't disagree with you re the goals ultimately likely translating into extra "points" in terms of GD when United look set to be quite free scoring. Also don't disagree that most teams would have beaten that Arsenal team.

I think, however, that United doing that after we'd gone what looked to be clear top will serve as a bit of a wake-up call to all concerned to make sure that we put teams properly to the sword whenever we can.....as we're going to be breathing down each other's necks all season.

The dirty salford sewer rats may have done us a favour as it happens

When everybody is fully fit & we're further into the season, teams will have to deal with a different strikeforce in the last 20 mins or possibly one or two impish young David Silva wannabes like Assulin or Suarez going for the throat trying to prove themselves. It will get lively soon enough.

My only complaint would be that a more clinical side than Spurs would have scored early in that game. If we're going to take that brand of football to Anfield, OT or even Villareal, we'll have to be a bit more careful at the back, otherwise we'll get the 'frying pan in the face' which Sven's side got at Chelsea.

Yeah to be fair, I think it's fair to let up a little at 4-1 away from home. No one could have predicted Arsenal's spanking.

I'd much rather win 4-0 than 6-1. Clean sheets are precious commodities given how competitive the Prem is these days.

I would prefer the 6-1 mate, its goal difference then goals scored that count.

About 3:20pm mate.

So quite late into the game then.

We also scored in injury time against Swansea.

3 games played, 2 goals score in injury time. Great thread!

Tbf we did take our foot off the gas a bit rather than doing like the rags used to in these circumstances when they had a nuclear striking option; bring on Solskjaer for a cheap 3 goals. Bob is testing out a new formation though (which I have a fanciful question/ theory about) so atm he's bringing on Savic & testing that..

Agreed. I think last half hour Tevez and Balotelli/Johnson should of been brought on to run at tiring and demoralized defenders.

Did you not see the foot come off the gas about the 60 minute mark? We seemed quite happy to keep the ball, didn't throw a lot forward and I thought it was fine cause I am for the no risk, job done mentality. But you aren't that oblivious Lee, so don't act like you are.

That is a fact, however we did back off in the second half of the Bolton game and let them at us, and despite the late goal on sunday we did back off them, I honestly believe we had another two goals in us in both games.

United were full on for 90 odd minutes on sunday and now they are top of the league.

Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys. If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.

No, I'm serious. I understand that the maths of 6-1 is better, but a clean sheet is priceless psychologically. If we'd come away from WHL with a clean sheet, our upcoming opponents would be wondering how to play us. As it happens, we've given them the morsel that is our ongoing laxness at set-pieces.

Fortunately our next opponents are Wigan, and they're fucking useless at set-pieces anyway.

Are you trying to outdo Baton in the 'reformed character' stakes? All I've seen from you in the last few weeks is shit quotes.

FFS keep quiet!

Keep going with the quotes Rag Hater, I think it makes you appear really clever & you're going up in everyone's estimation. it's much better than offering your opinions on football & I'm sure EVERYONE AGREES WITH ME.
