If we appease the press by sacking Gary, I'll actually be disgusted with City for bowing down and playing the media game.

It may reach the point where it ceases to be a game though - possibly already has - as all this will be being read in the middle east, not to mention some of our marketing targets like the USA.

As I said earlier, I hope he's telling the truth. I'll add that I hope it can't be proven that he isn't.

TheBig_Sam notBigSam
Just got an email from Garry Cook. It had a close-up picture of his anus with the words "Big Sam's face, Brian?!" written underneath. Cunt.

I seem to recall someone wuite powerful lying under oath who was caught out and proven to be a liar!
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman" was the phrase!

Lets have a bit more perspective and less hysteria.

good quoting there Carl.

That must be tax on all the HP sauce, Marmite and Boddington's you have shipped out to you
I guess with VAT at 20% your contribution must be substantial

Ex-Blackburn Rovers chairman Williams in line to succeed Cook at Manchester City
Former Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams could be set to succeed beleagured Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook.
The Guardian claims the former Blackburn Rovers chairman could replace chief executive Garry Cook should the latter be dismissed from the Etihad Stadium following his recent e-mail controversy concerning Nedum Onuoha’s mother.
It is understood that City manager Roberto Mancini would be happy to see Cook leave after a deterioration in his working relationship with both him and Brian Marwood.
It is believed that Mancini is receptive to the idea of a new regime involving the former Blackburn Rovers chairman.
However, whether the man who was at Ewood Park for 13 years would replace Cook is open to debate and it may be the case the club’s billionaire owners in Abu Dhabi will want to appoint one of their own or headhunt a replacement.

This sort of appointment fits with the position that CITY should have in the scheme of things from the media biased viewpoint.

Low key, middle of the road and can do some normal ‘stuff’ regards running a football club – and also then fitting their ‘preferred’ stereotype of the CEO/manager relationship – Manicni would be positive etc. In reality that model is a dinosaur that leaves you dependent on 1 person (the manager) and is not the future of ‘leading’ football clubs.

It only emphasises how important someone of at least Cook’s level (and for the next 6-12 months Cook himself) is to our growth towards dominance – not mediocrity.

The role of the CEO is not nowadays some sort of ‘support the 1st team’ focus. Over the next 3 – 5 years it will be in growing the annual turnover by between 25 – 40% year on year – establishing major links in emerging markets, e.g. Asia, USA etc and to rapidly expand in Manchester through regeneration and the that means a continued and uninterrupted (if possible) relationship with the MCC.

No disrespect to Williams – he has done a goodish job in difficult circumstances these last few months – but what he has been doing is just taking a bit of a load of Marwood’s shoulders – nothing remotely that would position him to take on Cook’s role

The media are really out for Cook – I am not excusing any cock-up – but that should put CITY fans (IMO) on their guard and in defence of him – Mancini is becoming more and more important to the club with the need to deliver success on the field important to the business plan – but Cook’s activities are at least as important.

Without success in both areas CITY will fail and the media will be content as the status quo is secured.

If this situation had not arisen I believe that Cook would leave within the next 24 months anyway – his family want to be back in the US it has been reported. But this should be a planned activity with an identified business leader in the appropriate markets coming in and taking over through a period of transition – not a sudden change at the behest of the corrupt media and to the delight of that slimy twat Kia.

I agree with all this ^^^^ but you can't have the chief exec openly lying in public to save his arse & getting caught. If it turns out he did it, he'll have to go but I would have thought he'd resign claiming a 'lack of support' or something similar if it was actually him, rather than go through an enquiry. That way he can still claim to be innoccent & not lose credibility. The fact he hasn't gone already suggests to me he's either not guilty or at least found a way of dodging this one.

Williams, to be fair, has got a big rep as far as running a football club goes. What we would need, to replace Cook, is a figure who can operate in the international business & sport business world to work with him.

Khaldoon is the man though. He will sort it either way. He deals with Kings & Presidents as well as all the top business people so finding someone at the top of their industry to work for City shouldn't be a problem for him. (Notice how Cameron had positioned himself next to Khaldoon at the Cup final btw ?) I hope Cook can continue though as he seems to be doing well at the moment.

If we can find a way to keep Cook then we should. Without a shadow of a doubt. Even if it means 'suspending' him for two months or whatever. With a hefty 'fine'....we really need Cook. He's a fantastic business man, and I really believe his influence has been absolutely huge on the turn around of the club. There's a reason why he was so high at Nike, and given the fact that this club has completely changed in the past two/three years since his arrival then it has to have a lot to do with his input.

Re the timing of this - also 'coincidently' it was just in the break for international football - giving the maximum window for a bored media and fans to chew on it.

If there had been a normal PL fixture list this week it would have got nothing like the coverage

Roll on the weekend!!!!!

Hope GC gets some vocal support at the ground on Saturday which shows the owners the fan's commitment to him.

He might be a bit of a PR clumsy bastard - but he is our PR clumsy bastard!!

I'd say Nedum is part of Kia's tag team and I have read somewhere that he is back in the squad(might be a titanic moment),so for me that indicates they are working together, that's why I think Nedum is now fronting the attack.
If Cook keeps his job I will be impressed

Back in the squad just to meet the quota I think. I'll be gobsmacked if he makes the bench let alone plays.

I am not sure he can go at this point, we need his "body" for the fair play rules I believe.
