Neither swp or aj were going to start this season as guaranteed starters, the two differences I think bobby sees tho are the fact that aj is much younger and some of his cameos last season changed games, to me he's the better of the two for the "impact sub" role.

I thought he had some good moments on Saturday, but I did question whether he is at the same level as the rest of the team. Most near me were happy enough to say "yes he is". Certainly not "shite"

I don't think he's been shit, he just looks a little out of his depth when compared to the world class quality around him.
I agree that SWP probably is the better all-round football player of the two, and that he has more of a football brain. Johnson, however, is a very skillful and technical player, who can totally change games on his own. If he would just learn to read the game better and improve his decision making he could be great for us - and not only as an impact sub. Against Wigan he had a lot of good actions, but unfortunately the final decision was often wrong: he shot when hes should cross, he crossed when he should have shot, he dribbled when he should have passed, etc.
I'm pretty sure Johnson would be great for a more traditional playing club - probably even for the rags. But in our attack, all players need to be able to think football on a very high level and to click with each other.

Absolute crap. He might not have been magnificent like he has been so far this season but he wasnt that poor.There is something in between great and shite which some fans just don't seem to grasp.

Same for AJ.Compared to some others he doesnt stand out and I agree he hasnt set the world alight but that doesnt make him shite.

He was surrounded by players who were playing at a level rarely seen in the history of the Premier League & he, like Milner, at times struggled to play at the exact same level, as they've never played with that kind of brilliance before. What he did do was largely simplify his game & play second fiddle to those players, keeping moves going & tracking back, helping them to get on with it without fucking it up. SWP would have continued to twist, turn, generally try all the same tricks he always tries, running hard first into groups of defenders whether it helped or not & that's why he's gone.

He's got loads of talent but lacks football intelligence. Johnson will learn to play at their level or be replaced, as will Milner. SWP has already proved for City, Chelsea & England, that he can't do it.
