The right decision

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The right decision

Postby Duckman » Tue Sep 13, 2011 9:31 pm

Just realized how sacking Hughes was a great decision by the Club. Just imagine where Sparky could have taken us with players he bought. For fuck's sake, we still cant get rid of some of them. Plus, he spent all that money on not so great players and gave them enormous salaries, so, now, some of them don't even mind not playing at all, content to pick up their paychecks, while their girlfriends are out shagging some goddamn pensioner.
It was a brave decision, at the right time, almost a bit too late, with the new rules kicking in.

Though, not sacking Hughes right after the take over might be looked at as a mistake.

Finally, we are starting to look good, no more of those spooky feeling we might fuck it all up, so typical for the "old" city.

I must say, I was kind of happy when Sparky took over, but we are not the same club anymore, and we haven't been for some time now. He was a good solution back then, so I thought.

Anyway, just wanted to share this with you.

Come on City!!!

I reckon this post is either:

1) A PWP
2) A wind up intended to get all the old arguments going again
3) A result of the new 'Timewarp' function on this site.

Whats a PWP??

Havent had an intention to argue with anyone, dont care, just been thinking where, not making that particular decision, could have taken us.

Thats it.

The first sentence of your post, where you claim that you have just realized that sacking Hughes was a good thing, made me suspicious.

I think even the most vehement of Hughes defenders would agree in hindsight getting rid was the right move

blah blah, Sparky managed not to fuck up each and every transfer!

Personally, think Tevez staying is kinda like cancer )

Moving stadium was the best thing we ever did, I never thought it would be, however it has been a a lot more luckier than my beloved Maine Rd in lots of ways. Except when we get dicked by Everton as some annual tradition.

Im not particularly aware of the ins and outs of these deals - but would it have been Sparky that decided upon the salaries for these people? Surely it would have been one of the backroom team rather than a manager.

Exactly. Plus even though the likes of Adebayor etc didn't work out, at the time they were all we were able to attract. Obviously there were some pointless transfers (RSC) but the players we got under Hughes enabled us to reach the level where we could sign the likes of Silva, Aguero etc.
