Yup. He reads the game very well and his movement looks top notch based on that 90.

Perhaps a full debut, without wanting to appear "look smug"?

Just back from the game - he was stand out for me and others sat near me - really looked composed and showed some good pace when it was needed

didn't have a lot to do defensively, but I was impressed by how composed he look and how willing he was to receive the ball - none of the Lescott hot potato style.

Looks confident enough in possession, strong in the air and has the requisite pace for a big man. Promising.

He does look a very composed player, comfortable on the ball and well able to pass it about.Very promising player from what i have seen.
It will be difficult to gauge how good he really is until he's playing more regularly and up against top class opposition but the signs are good.

He outjumped that Zigic chappie a couple of times despite the fact he must be six inches shorter than him. I was quite impressed with him.

It's great to read people saying he had pace & was good in the air because he's lacked both those attributes when I've watched him so far. Perhaps he wasn't fit.

It's easy to forget he's only 20. He's still a kid really. Lots of potential. He's not 'fast' really, but he's definitely not slow. He's one of those defenders who's really just good at everything, without being excellent in any category, but quite clearly has the ability to excel if things go well. I like him. Very composed.

There was one chase down the wing (after his own loose ball to be fair) where he left the attacker behind but as you say it wasn't exactly blistering pace but the look of determination on his face and the graft he put into that chase summed him up really, there was no way he was going to let the attacker win the race.

Clearly you haven't been paying attention when he's played. The guy was so fast coming on as a substitute , he got a yellow card for it !

He looks very promising. Hopefully he can keep improving and eventually cement his place in the starting 11.
