Kasper Schmeichel as good as Hart - Sven

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Kasper Schmeichel as good as Hart - Sven

Postby ross.mcfc » Fri Sep 23, 2011 4:06 pm

Maybe he might have then explained why he bombed Kasper out of the side the minute Joe Hart was fit.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15006682.stm

Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is on a par with England number one Joe Hart.

The 24-year-old summer signing from Leeds is playing under Eriksson for the third time, following spells at Manchester City and Notts County.

Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "He is a great keeper. It was a great buy.

"I had him and Joe at Manchester City and I said I can't see the difference between them - almost nothing."

Maybe a few years ago, yeah. But now, not a spot on Big Joe.

I do seem to remember Sven giving them 6 games each to see who was best, Smeich's had the first 6 then Joe played for the rest of the season. So who did you think was the best Keeper Sven?

May I just add that his behaviour watching the Scum the other night made me want to pummel the little tossers swede in. Just thought I'd mention it.

Maybe in snooker. Or darts.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Schmikes can count himself unlucky, i thought he was excellent in his stint. Arsenal away especially

I agree mate and at the time thought he should've been given the gloves. Sven obviously saw something other in training that we didn't on the pitch.

Kasper was very very lucky. He could have probably developed into a top quality keeper, and still might. But Joe was always ahead in my opinion, it might just even be down to him being a little taller, or basically commanding the area with more confidence, a bigger presence.

Hart is the best goal keeper in the premier league right now.

It's weird how we all see things differently, but I actually considered Kaspar to be nothing other than LUCKY. Whenever he was in goal for us, I never had any confidence in him and always thought he rode his luck.

He's far too small to be a top class keeper, never had any command of his area. He has some great attributes e.g. his distribution was always good in my opinion and he was quick to get off his line for one on ones (like his Dad) but never good enough for a decent Prem team in my opinion.

If I remember this one correctly there were two instances where the ball was crossed about 6 yards from the goal line and Kasper went flopping about for them like a trout out of water and it was his defence that came to the rescue. And what Sven should have seen was our defence playing on top of Kasper because they didn't trust him to do the job either.

His one saving grace in that match was the saved penalty.

I'll honestly say I thought he should have gotten the gloves that season.

Politely put Aaron. I would have said 'what a load of shite'!! Never in a million years a Premier keeper. What planet are some folk on - always did wonder about Sven!

Whilst I wish him well, I think that Kasper (rag lover) has been a bit scarred due to Joe - he must have thought he was well place - considered himself to be as good as Joe etc - and then Joe gets the nod. He sees Joe's career go through the roof whilst he starts to go backwards

He seems to be someone that needs his confidence building up and that is what Sven will be doing - doubt he really thinks it though

If he was a top keeper he wouldn't be counting Notts fuckin County, Leeds and Leicester as teams he's played for most recently and he'd be playing for a Premiership side. End of.

That's why he's managing Leicester and not the city.
